Lets go live on sky6 taking a look toward the ben franklin bridge which is lit up at the top and the bottom in eagles green. A lot of folks out there doing some skating on the river rink on this very mild monday but double scan live showing theres a powerful system thats heading our way. The northern flank, a lot of cold air so, yes, minneapolis where bob brooks is getting about a foot of snow but were in the warm sector so what im tracking is this cold front that will bring us a round of rain and kind of bad timing with this right in time for the morning commute. So, were issuing accuweather alerts for your morning commute for the rain. Were looking at generally about a half inch to an inch of rain and there is a possibility we get some isolated thunderstorms that actually could have some damaging winds. Its going to be kind of a wild Tuesday Morning but its coming off a very mild weekend and monday. Saturday with all that sunshine 57 degrees. Sunday dropped to 53. Today soared up to 62 degrees. Thats 22 degrees above normal, only 8 degrees shy of our record high. The reason why were getting all that warm air, we have a surge of winds out of the south ahead ahead of that cold front. That continues tomorrow. Tomorrows high again about 62. The clouds are rolling in and theres that rain thats heading through the ohio valley. So, tonight the clouds will thicken, fog developing and we will have the showers moving in in the wee hours of the morning, probably about 3, 4 oclock in the morning. Overnight lows, though, actually warmer than the normal high for this time of the year. 46 in philadelphia, cape may 44, allentown 42 and wilmington 44. So were talking about rain. No freezing rain, no snow or ice. Future tracker showing its all about the timing, though. Bad timing for the morning commute. At 5 oclock, the showers generally north and west of philadelphia. By 8 30, its pouring around philadelphia, the i95 corridor and the rain continues up until about lunchtime. Around lunchtime perhaps some gusty thunderstorms and then the bulk of the rain pushing off the coast by the afternoon and then just a few lingering showers. The evening commute a lot better than the morning commute. So, as far as rain, kind of depends on where you are. Looks like the focus of the heaviest rain will be north and west of philadelphia. The poconos, bad news for the ski resorts, could get about an inch of rain. Allentown. 85. Philadelphia probably about threequarters of an inch of rain. Then we get farther down to the south, wildwood probably about a quarter inch of rain but we do have a better chance of some gusty thunderstorms south of philadelphia, temperatures a little bit warmer. There will be a little bit more lift. So, theres an isolated chance of some severe thunderstorms. South of philadelphia, this is where we could have some damaging wind gusts. Again, does not look to be widespread. Isolated and likely centered around lunchtime so certainly something well be watching ahead of the cold front and behind that front we really do cool off by the middle of the week. So, the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, mild temperatures, 62 degrees but that morning rain, again, generally about a half inch to an inch of rain. Some gusty thunderstorms possible, perhaps with some damaging winds. By the afternoon, though, we clear things out, we see some peeks of sunshine but then temperatures begin to fall on wednesday much winds shift out of the northwest so thats a cooler flow of air. Bit of a shock to the system, about 20 degrees cooler but 42 is still a couple degrees above normal. Good amount of sunshine on wednesday. Thursday will be the coolest day of the week. The afternoon high only 37 degrees. It will be dry, mostly sunny but we dont stay cool very long. On friday, its sunny, its still chilly but seasonable with a high of 40 degrees and it looks like we have another very mild weekend on the way. Saturday, its breezy with winds out of the southwest. Increasing clouds. The afternoon high up to 54 degrees. Sunday even warmer with a high of 59 degrees. But it comes at a cost. We cloud up with periods of rain developing, especially in the afternoon and monday morning some rain, then drying by the afternoon with a high of 50 degrees. You look at those seven days, it really doesnt look like late january but there are indications the cold air will be returning right in time for super bowl weekend. Why not. Good timing. Get us right in the minneapolis rainy month. School district of philadelphia still looking for teachers and counselors for next year.
