A lot of sunshine on the way and those clouds out to the west probably having a little difficulty getting over the mountain. We expect mostly sunny skies overall today. Some of this may have melted on asphalt and sidewalks initially but that was the figures mesh official measurement. There were some outlying areas that went higher. Temperatures right now theres no melting going on currently. 29 degrees in philadelphia kurnly. 17 degrees in allentown and reading and with the wind blowing at about anywhere from about 612 Miles Per Hour right now, it actually feels a lot cooler than that. And we will do some melting of those icy patches on sidewalks and side streets through the afternoon. This portion of i95 looks fine and i think in general your main roads are going to be in good shape. In fact even during the storm a lot of them remained just wet across the region. But always be careful for that icy patch as it is a potential issue as you run through the region this morning. As we take a look at satellite though and radar, the snow is long gone. It ended before midnight last night and even then it was really light. Now you see cloud cover sweeping through and really starting to break apart. This stuff out to the west having a hard time to get to the mountains and we do expect mainly sunny skies. Temperatures are cool. 26 in reading, 26 in trenton, 27 in wilmington and 28 degrees in millville and there is a bit of a breeze blowing running 612 mile per hour right now and thats giving you these wind chills. It feels like 19 degrees in philadelphia, allentown a wind chill of 7. As you step out early it will be important to put on the gloves, the hat, the heavy coat and things get better as we go later in the morning and into the afternoon. We are in general looking at a bit of a breeze right now. 12 Miles Per Hour in philadelphia. These winds are going to have a tendency to build a little bit after sunrise. So even though the temperatures im going to show you later today are better, youll still want that coat. A 1020 mile per hour wind is likely through most of the day. By the way there are some snow showers out here to the west but we expect those to essentially fall apart because they can clear the east of the mountains as well. How much snow did we get . In philadelphia officially 4. 1 inches. Nearby 4. 9 inches. West chester 3. 5 inches. It really kind of depended where you are. A couple of spots went higher. West allentown 7. 5 inch it is. Here and there we went higher. Some of this melted before it had a chance to accumulate on grassy surfaces and especially on sidewalks and roads but eventually it did overtake some of those pavement surfaces as well. In wilmington 4. 1 inches, mount holly, new jersey. 4. 8. 5 in cherry hill. And a general 36 inches more or less in most areas. As we go through the region by 8 00, still just 30 degrees just above the freezing mark by 10 00, 34 degrees there. By noon under the sun, 38 degrees. And by 3 00, a high of 41. There will be melting going on. I will caution you however that by 6 00 were back down to 35 and after about 7 00, or 8 00 tonight were probably looking at numbers below freezing and that means that anything that melts and starts to turn into water on the road surfaces on the sidewalks could refreeze if it doesnt totally dry. Hopefully that breeds will dry automatic lot of it out. For a while this afternoon from allentown, reading all i way through philadelphia and down to the shore you will be in the low 40s and again under the sun should melt things. Medics took him to the hospital where he is in critical condition. Investigators are trying to find out what led to the shooting and month fired the gun. I meant to update this graphic. The information is still good. Its been four years since 1 inch of snow has fallen in philadelphia in december. So that was back in 2013. That month we actually got 11 inches of snow. It doesnt happen all that often especially in recent years. We got up to 4. 1 this december. And might add a little more later in the week before the month winds down. Mostly sunny and chilly today in the Lehigh Valley a high of 40 degrees. The snow is over but early on youll have some icy patches and some snow covered side streets and sidewalks to deal with.
