Eight month old everett and his other pint sized buddies didnt seem to mind the heat this morning as they crawled and played in the fountains at the sisters city park. Theyre trying to cool off on this nice day. Its a little hot. Hes enjoying the water. I like to get out early get in the water, get some exercise and sun and get home for nap time. Police are investigating a report two of children being left in a hot car. This as temperatures soared into the 90s today. Happened outside of a Home Depot Distribution Center in Upper Macungie township. No word yet on the conditions of the children or how long they were inside that car. A person was rushed to the hospital after they were injured in a house fire in Chester County. The fire started just before 1 00 this afternoon in the 100 block of hannum mill road in london grove township. Action news has been told that the person was trapped and had to be pulled out by firefighters. No word on the victims condition. Fire officials are still trying to determine how the blaze started. A firefighter was injured while responding to a call herely in Montgomery County today. The firefighter was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road here on the 1800 block of swamp pike in gilbertsville 678 this was the scene from chopper six at around 11 30 this morning. Officials say the firefighter was responding to an elevator rescue when he was hit. He was taken to Lehigh Valley hospital. His condition not yet clear. The person trapped in the elevator was freed and is doing okay tonight. Philadelphia congressman chaka fattah scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court tomorrow. But today fattah requested action from congress to ensure that there was no prosecutorial misconduct in the case against him. Fattah sent a letter asking that material related to the case be preserved. He wants the case reviewed for unconstitutional or unlawful behavior. Fattah says hes innocent of all charges and plans to run for a 12th term next year. We are little more than a month away until pope francis arrives in philadelphia. Everyone is counting down and preparing for what will be the biggest spiritual event to ever grace our region. And as we get ready for the pope to visit our hometown action news anchor jim gardner is spending the week in his. Jim is live in buenos aires exploring the places that formed pope francis views and his faith. Jim, good evening. Reporter good evening, rick and welcome to buenos aires argentina, a city of almost 3 million people, chaotic traffic. Ever present graffiti. Disdain for politicians and extraordinary energy. Until march 13th, 2013, the most recognizable names this country had produce were there probably evita peron and she died in 1952 and soccer superstar lionel messy but on that day in march 2013, everything changed. [cheers and applause] reporter that was the day that this citys archbishop Jorge Bergoglio was elected pope and took on the name france after francis of assisi. Well, there it is. Reporter and this was the house where jorge was born on december 17, 1936. Jorge was the first of five siblings born to tat italian immigrant parents. I took a tour of his neighborhood called flores and stood outside his first school where he attended kindergarten. His father mario and mother regina both worked outside the house. So it was jorges grandmother rosa who effectively raised him and who would be an enormous influence in his life. Rosa was the first to tell young jorge that compassion should take precedence over judgment and that it was essential to find the best in others. Those are two of the pillars of francis papacy and two of the reasons francis is seen as bringing a new culture to the vatican. Bergoglios parents moved to a new neighborhood not far away, a neighborhood of cobblestones and quiet streets. This is the church where he received his first communion and this was his new house where his siblings would be born. This was where bergoglio and his buddies played soccer all day when they were six, seven, 89 years old. Now its a park for children near bergoglios house. This was the house two doors down where at 13 he would fall in love with amalia delmon at any. He wrote her a letter saying if he didnt become a priest he would marry her. She died last january but we talked to her grandson marios. [speaking foreign language] reporter he confirmed that his grandmothers father ripped up that letter from young jorge down the block but he said his grandmother always described her friendship with bergoglio as beautiful and pure. Jorges mother and father wanted their son to be a doctor and he didnt tell them about his increasing interest in another kind of calling. This was the scene of bergoglios epiphany. He was supposed to meet some friends a couple blocks away at the subway stop but he decided to stop here at San Jose De Flores churchly he went in to macon petition and itoto make confession. It was tho become a priest. And five years later bergoglio entered the seminary and began a career in the church that has had its ups and downs and substantial controversy. The sevenyearold was critically injured during a car crash yesterday on the route 30 bypass in caln township. She was thrown from the vehicle and landed on top of her. Bypassers saw the crash scene and got out to help. They were able to lift the car off of her. Investigators want to recognize the people who helped out. The driver and three other children in the car were not seriously injured. Philadelphia police need the publics help tonight in finding this 12yearold girl. Myasia mcfar lands was reported missing about 5 10 last evening. She was last seen at her home in the germantown section of philadelphia. Police say myasia suffers from bipolar disorder. Youre asked to call police if you have any information on her whereabouts. If youre on the beaches, wow youve picked a great week for that because temperatures a lot cooler with that sea breeze. Sea isle city the high only 81 degrees. Right now the heat index makes it feel like 96 degrees in philadelphia. Feels like 94 in allentown, 88 degrees in millville and it feels like 93 in wilmington and the heat will be on again one more day tomorrow. Satellite6 along with action radar showing except for that one cell over northeast philadelphia, were looking at just some clouds here there are but we did have a good amount of sunshine during the day but if we broad 10 this view you can see theres a consider moving across the midwest and that fronts is moving at a snails pace and what this is helping do is really erupt heat and humidity and the storms from the south and this will all be moving in by the middle of the week. So, much needed rain on the way. Tonight, though, a warm and sticky night, an early popup thunderstorm possible an isolated one, 67 in the cooler suburbs, 76 for center city. So, a very muggy night and tomorrow the heat is on one more day. Hazy, hot and humid with a high of 93 degrees. Could have an isolated thunderstorm popping up in the afternoon but most of the activity will wait until the middle of the week. This is when that cold front will get closer. Well pull up some of the storms from the south so 87 degrees on wednesday. The heat wave will be over. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Most active team period will be thursday into friday as that cold front finally slips through. If you are on the beaches tomorrow, the ocean temperature has cooled off to 67 degrees. Some upwell. Lots of sunshine with that sea breeze so a lot cooler than inland for the high of 82 degrees down the shore. Dont forget the sunscreen tomorrow. Youll need it. On wednesday with winds out of the southsoutheast the clouds roll in, really takes the edge off the heat ending the heat wave, 87 degrees but it will be very muggy with the possibility of some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Thursday as the front moves right over us, well have numerous downpours and some thunderstorms, a very active day with a high of 85 degrees and friday still unsettled with some lingering showers and thunderstorms depending on how quick that will front moves through and a high of 84 degrees. Heading into the weekend, though, we dry things out. Partly sunny on saturday with a high of 86 degrees. Association the weather looking pretty nice for the eagles preseason game at the linc on saturday evening.
