Coast guard notified Charles County about the missing boaters at 3 00 this morning. The coast guard had been searching already since 11 00 last night when the 911 call was first made. The couple, Charles Zintner and melissa smarr, were supposed to arrive at 5 00 yesterday afternoon. Charles county responded and found a boat anchored and left running with the radio on. Crews also found a cell phone food, and a purse. Neighbors say they left tuesday night to go boating. What is really concerning authorities is that there were two like this found on the boat. You always have to have a life vest or some kind of flotation device when the motor is running. On a main river like that, we always have our best on. Jeanette those were two fishermen we were talking to earlier today, saying that no matter how experienced they are they always carried their life vest. Authorities are holding out hope that there were additional life vests and the couple may have them on. At this point, things are looking not too good. This is a pretty extensive search searching eight miles of water. They will be searching for the next several hours. We are told at 2 30 p. M. There will be a press conference with several agencies, and they will update us. Of course, we will be following this later on this afternoon. Jummy thank you. Also new this noon, police expected to release video of a 2013 police chase and crash that ended in the death of two women. The suspect, ronald hayes being sentenced right now. Suzanne kennedy has the latest from the courtroom. We just saw the video within the last 15 minutes here in the courtroom. There were about 25 members of the family and friends of the two victims and the courtroom in europe did as they saw the accident that took the lives of two young women, two twentysomething women. Britney queen and britney everett. This started on december 8 2013 when Authorities Say ronald hayes was fleeing from police from an earlier shooting that took place here in the county. As he fled from police, and this is what the video showed, he turned up his headlights and proceeded at a high rate of speed. When he got to the intersection of hill road and Central Avenue, that is when he hit a minivan containing Brittany Queen, number everett, and for others. Those two were killed and 10 were injured. Hayes has been on home detention since the incident in december. He arrived here today with his attorney and says he is ready to accept responsibility and his punishment. His family is in the courtroom as well. The mom of Brittany Queen said something to the court as victim impact statement were given. He says i forgive mr. Hayes for his actions and i leave it up to god. The aunt says that the hell that he has gone through is nothing compared to what he will face if he does not turn things around. The judge said that what he did was a heinous act and because of what he did come he took the lives of two people. He is referencing the fact that he fled into the woods after the fact and hid in the woods after the accident. We anticipate the sentencing will be handed down any minute now. He faces a maximum penalty of eight years in prison. Authorities are asking for the sentence to exceed that maximum for the death of these two women in december 2013. Jummy thank you.
