Do you think you know what homelessness looks like? If your child says their best friend at school sleeps in their car, do you know what getting help looks like for that family?
Across northeastern Louisiana hundreds of students each year come to school and don't have access to permanent housing.
That can range from living in hotels, motels and cars to staying with relatives temporarily or living in homes without adequate protection from the elements, heat or running water.
Here's how the two largest local school districts in the 12-parish region work to identify those children and help their families get the assistance they need to provide a stable environment.
