Weapon seized, man charged

A weapon and ammunition were allegedly found when police responded to a report of a man with a firearm in the city’s east end Tuesday.
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to the 0 to 100 block of Manitou Park Drive at about 6 p.m. The area was contained. A man refused to leave a residence, police say. He was taken into custody approximately an hour later.

“It wrapped up pretty quickly after the scene was contained and emergency service unit arrived,” said spokesperson Lincoln Louttit.
