Theyre concerned it could partially collapse. Theyve been working on the fire escapes, tearing them down. From the ground by the big orange vehicle. There are some of the fires escapes, down below. Firefighters today, continue searching for a cause. I thought i would beer. Now i dont know what i will do. Reporter for the woman and her family the fire on chestnut caught them offguard. They traveled all the way from brazil, scheduled to stay at best western hotel. Quickly realized that wasnt going to happen now. The street that the hotel sits on, now blocked off, because of the fire. I had to try to figure out something. Very confusing for me now. Firefighters continued working on hot spots. New video from the back of the buildings obtained by nbc 10, shows flames shooting high in the air. One man who lost everything. Including some cats. His friend and vet worker, dana burns wanted to raise money for him. Tells us the feedback has been incredible. I set the first limit at 5 t i thought, if we could get a downpayment for an apartment or something. And, i mean every hour, it was like, 1,000 more. And more. The artist and teacher works closely with the nearby vet. Also offers his home to stray cats. In 24 hours, friends have raised more than 28,000 for the man who has saved countless animals. And tells us he is overwhelmed by the kind gesture. And dedicated to saying thank you. Like a storm of pain and regret, and sadness. And, all kinds of things that this has even happened. He tells me this outpouring of support is helping deal with all of the pain. At this hour, you can see heavy equipment, drilling on the street below. During this whole chaos. More than 160 people were evacuated from the two buildings. Thankfully, everyone got out safely. But i can tell you that, nine cats and four bird did die in this fire. Now thousand of pennsylvanians belong in a different district. This is the way the old map looked. Critic say boundary lines were drawn unfairly to been fit republicans. This is the new map on the right. You can see them make more geographic sense. Nbc 10s was finding out what newt map means for you. Denise. All the districts have been renumbered and reconfigured. For example, congressman bob bradys district no longer exists in the map. During the may primaries, voters may have a different incoming candidate than theyre used to. Nearly everyone in state will be impacted. Bizarre. Grotesque. Ceo of a nonpartisan philadelphia based committee of 70 described the Pennsylvania Congressional map. It was in here. The old map on the left. Versus the new one the state Supreme Court issued. It looks like on first glance like it is a more common sense map. It feels like it it has got balance tight. The court said the old map is so partisan, favoring republicans, that it violates the state constitution. Republican lawmakers on the other hand, called a new congressional map. Confusing, chaos. More importantly, it is seriously undermines rule of law. Theyre planning to fight the courts decision. This was really about more democrat seats. What they have done. Calling it judicial. And, gerrymandering is what people are complaining abut. Now the Supreme Court is engaged in the activity. Those in support of the new district lines will have to adjust to change. Congressman, dwight evans represented a part of gum gum county on the old map. In the new map, he representatives only philadelphia voters. It is the question. I think better for the democracy and the people. Now the state, gop plans to file a law suit in federal court to block the map. Hoping to make it all the we to u. S. Supreme court. He says the summons came in the mail last sunday. 1 its t 18 is the legal age. The Chester County native its a fifth grader. Nbc 10, Brandon Hudson takes to one tire shop that has seen damage like never before. Since january 1st, the Street Department says they filled in 14,000 potholes. Theyre popping up all over phillys busiest streets giving drivers headaches and keeping tire shops busy. At the tire and auto repair in northeast philly, the casualties of potholes are all over the mechanics garage. This years worse than the past couple years. Cracked, broken ribs. Looked like something went through the tire into the wheel. Tires damaged beyond repair. Like this one with the bubble on the side. You go over a pothole. The whole tire will hit the ground. When you feel that jolt, the wheel is actually pinching the tire. Start that the owner thinks will be busiest week because of fluctuating weather. Everyone in the waiting room took on a pothole and lost. What was going through my mind. I hope that my tire is going to make it. Apparently not this time. And his wife hit one in cobbs creek. Second time. Drivers we spoke to noticed potholes this didnt. We saw people take them on at their own risk. In mount airee, powered through the pothole filled street. Others drove around them.
