You can see the showers thats been stretching across philadelphia right now, that is light rain. And its a little bit steadier and coming down just a bit heavier in a few neighborhoods in the Lehigh Valley. The fog first thing this morning. Thick fog, well not yet for allentown. A mile and a quarter contributing. Thats considered light fog. No sign of cold air. Were in the 50s right now, and thats where were going to stay for most of it day today. 57 in philadelphia, a rainy day for new jersey, the Lehigh Valley and delaware, too. Rain today, snow over the weekend. Ill break it down hour by hour with the future cast when i come back in ten minutes. But first Jessica Boyington watching your first alert traffic. At that point a teacher and what appears to be a Swat Team Member told the stunlts dents t quiet. The officers asked them to stand and go straight to the stairwell. These are pictures of some of the 17 victims killed in the Florida School. A football coach whos been hailed as a hero and an Athletic Director who grew up in the poconos are among the dead. The grief of the loss of those 17 victims were on full display at this vigil last night. Nbc 10s matt delucia joins us live in our digital operations story with their stories of heart break. Another one was in a marching band and another victim had just become a u. S. Citizen. 17 lives cut short, kids, teachers and a coach who never made it home from school. These are the faces of some of the victims. They were gunned down outside as well as inside several classrooms. The 49yearold was one of the Athletic Directors of the school, and his old friends from growing up in the poconos says his legacy will surely live on through all the students he inspired. All those positive attributes theyll use for the rest of their lives. Were going to miss you, chris. Their stories and connections are still being heard and felt throughout the nation. In langhorn last night dozens of people gathered for a vigil outside congressman fits patrick office. Look for the live reports beginning this afternoon and the today show has Live Team Coverage from the scene. Theyll have the victims and shooters history. 4 35 right now. Amtrak put Regional Rail lines on notice yesterday. Its considering a move to stop those who dont have positive train control. Ptc is the system to limit train versus train collisions and derailments due to speen. However, the company hope tuesday force other lines to meet the federal governments december 31st deadline to install the system. That also means amtrak isnt likely to let regional trains like amtrak or septa run on its tracks if they arent ptc compliant. The mtsb determined a sleep deprived operator caused the train to race into the station way too fast leading to a derailment. It also could have stopped this deadly derailment back in december. There are concerns the operators in this crash may have been distracted. Positive train control is also a priority for governor phil murphy. And in an announcement yesterday he said ptc is a key component to changes he wants to make to nj transit. He wants to add more train cars on the tracks but only after the system init stalled. Theyre taking steps to add more equipment and hire more people. Well, Community Leaders will meet this morning in philadelphia the governor of puerto rico. The Nonprofit Group esperanza is hosting a community group. The visit comes nearly a week after an explosion fire at an Electric Substation sunday night that plunged much of the northern part of puerto rico into darkness. This happened as the island continues to struggle with a lack of power in some areas after Hurricane Maria devastated puerto rico last year. And look at new jersey, the shore and wilmington, itll get close to 60 degrees at time, and there may be some breaks in the rain. Fo to keep the umbrella with you. Rain today, much more ahead. But its going to end on a cold note. There is much colder air that is going to be moving in. You can see the storm system extends into missouri. Thats some snow falling just north of st. Louis and into kansas city. That snow is a possibility for us saturday evening. Saturday afternoon the clouds will be building and after sunshine in the morning saturday, weve got snow developing in our area. But the temperatures will be quite warm to start with, so its going to take some time for the ground to get cold enough to some accumulation. The first snow is going to melt as it comes down. As we go into the later evening hours the snow at times is coming down heavier and then those neighborhoods will start to see some accumulation. And early sunday morning its a quick mover and just fast enough and heavy enough to issue a first alert for the pennsylvania suburbs and Lehigh Valley from saturday evening at 6 00 until sunday morning at 5 00, and then it quickly clears out for sunshine on sunday. You can expect 3 to 6 inches accumulating on the grass, on those colder surfaces. And burst of snow in these neighborhoods. And then we clear out for the second hatch the weekend. The fog will clear, the rains going to stay with us for most of the day as well as the mild weather. Were only looking at rain here and you dont need the heavy coat. 55 right now in allentown, 54 in philadelphia. Upper 50s in treptnton and dove 53 degrees right now. Look what happens tomorrow, the temperature plunges. The temperature trend shows a warmup as we go into next week, a major warmup. But saturday evening its going to be cold enough for snow, and a quick moving system is going to give us just that. Not today. Today its only going to be rain in philadelphia, allentown, and trenton and a few showers at the shore. Theres more on the way. You can see it lining up to the west. Thats going to be here today. And the cold air that is farther to the west, that arrives for saturday. In fact, that cold air will move in tonight. As soon as that rain is done, the temperatures will quickly come down. 7 00 this morning, 58 decrease in philadelphia. Still looking at some very mild temperatures with rain this afternoon. 60 in mount holly, trenton and miliv milville, 61 degrees. By 7 00 were dry, temperatures in the 40s, but watch how that does not last. By late in the evening well drop down into the 30s, and tomorrow morning were looking at 20s and low 30s. Youll say bill you dont know what youre talking about, how can we get snow later in the day . Well, let me show you the clouds arrive in the afternoon. 41 degrees and here comes snow that will continue into sunday morning, and thats why weve issued a first alert. And accumulation is most likely on the grass, but the pennsylvania suburbs and Lehigh Valley going to get a bit colder so youll see some accumulation on the roads and walkways, too. Saturday evening at 6 00, sunday morning at 5 00. A quick mover. By the Early Morning on sunday this is out of here. On the grass youll get 3 to 6 inches. A lot of that fresh snow is going to be melting and its going to be too warm for it to support the snow accumulation. 56 this afternoon, a rainy day today, and here come those clouds with the snow in the afternoon and Late Afternoon evening hours. By sunday, though, sunshine is back, and look at those temperatures. Near 50 degrees. A lot of that snow will be melting if not all of it. And if it doesnt melt on sunday, it will wash away with some showers. And look at tuesday and wednesday. Up to 70 degrees wednesday, and still mild for most of next week. Well see temperatures in the 50s. All right, bill, we know that you know what youre talking about. But hearing about that snow and sun its crazy. Honey, dont worry about it.
