Paul National Airport believes it will see a Record Number of travelers for super bowl lii. In anticipation, the airport has special decorations and greetings. Philadelphia police say they recovered a hammer and a kitchen knife a man allegedly used to kill his mother. Police say they found 49yearold tammy blunt stabbed and beaten to death in her apartment on wissahickon avenue. The motive for the killing remains unclear. Investigators say the suspect, malachi white, has Mental Health issues and was off his medication. Most people, you know your neighbors, youre welcomed, happy. I wouldnt expect anything like it to come out of here. Sources told nbc10 the son had been living with his mothers body for days and confessed when police came knocking on the door. The president of the Michigan State university is stepping down amid growing criticism of how the school handled the larry nassar sexual scandal. Lou anna simon announced her resignation yesterday. Dozens of patients accused nassar of molesting them at his msu offices. Several victims claim they told the university about his sexual abuse as early as 1997. I just signed the warrant the resignation came hours after the judge sentenced nassar to up to 175 years in prison for molesting some of the nations top gymnasts. Over the past week and a half, 156 women told their stories at his sentencing. Many accused msu and usa gymnastics of ignoring their accounts. They are now calling for continued accountability. Larry nassar did not arrive in isolation. We will not rest until there has been a complete special investigation and overhaul. The ncaa is launching an investigation into Michigan States handling of the case. Three top leaders at usa gymnastics resigned earlier this week. Happening now, the flu epidemic is forcing doctors to take their treatment outside. The Lehigh Valley hospital is expanding, using tents to handle their overflowing emergency room. The Health Department says in the last week theyve seen a sharp increase, including 15 deaths in the past week alone. The number of cases overwhelming Emergency Rooms to the point that theyre packed. Here at Lehigh Valley hospital cedarcrest, they put out this outdoor tent. This is called the surge hospital where they take overflow patients because of all the cases theyre seeing. Im joined by lindsay howe. Nursing director. What are you seeing at the hospital . A lot of volume surge related to winter illness. Whether that be influenza or the respiratory virus or the g. I. Bug or norovirus. Were seeing people that are having lengthy stays in the hospital. Reporter here in the tent is not necessarily all the flu patients. The worst patients will be inside the hospital. Correct. Were using our mobile surge hospital to help us deal with the demands. Were using it to see anybody we dont expect will need admission to the hospital. Reporter when should people seek treatment for flulike illness . When they get to the point that theyre not able to eat or drink well, a fever that cant be managed by overthecounter treatment, chronic disease, asthma, diabetes, its important they seek treatment.
