Marshal was shot here on mull berry street. Take a look at the scene. Weve got police all over from a couple different agencies here. Youll of course have mulberry street which is shut down. There are crime scene markers all over the street. You cant see that now that this police car just came in here and kiechb blocked our view. Also investigators, police going in and out of every home here on the block trying to talk to neighbors about this potential suspect. Again, a u. S. Marshal was killed and a York City Police officer also shot during this altercation. But his injuries, the york city detective rather, are considered to be nonlifethreatening. Harrisburg officer was also injured but expected to be okay. The names of the officers involved not released as of now, but we can tell you the public is not in any danger. That according to police. The suspect, according to mayor here in harrisburg, was critically injured when officers returned fire. Were still working to learn more about that suspect and what type of search warrant was served this morning. We expect to have more answers for you coming up later this evening. Now it feels like its in the teens in pottstown, allentown, 16 in wilmington, 17 there. Atlantic city feels like 17 right now. Temperature without the wind is now in the 20s after dipping down into the teens. Look at the sunshine. The Lehigh Valley, new jersey, suburbs and philadelphia too. We are on track to see temperatures climb above freezing but not a lot above freezing. Sunny, 33 degrees at 2 00 with the northwestly wind at 15 Miles Per Hour, and just after sunset 33 degrees in philadelphia. We will see the temperatures climb. In between those hours we hit 36 degrees in philadelphia, little bit cooler in the suburbs and just below freezing but still melting conditions with bright sunshine in the Lehigh Valley. These photos showed the home on rodney avenue just after the fire started at 4 00 this morning. It took firefighters about an hour and a half to get those flames under control. A Family Member tells us all nine people including children were able to make it out of the house. They went to a neighbors home to stay warm. All nine are in the hospital getting checked out but that Family Member says none of their injuries are serious. She also tells us several of the people were from out of town and they were visiting to attend a funeral. Investigators are going to try to figure out what caused that fire today. West philadelphia firefighters found three people trapped on top of this building. Early this morning they escaped to the roof after flames tore through the home. Firefighters rescued everyone and they should be okay. City inspectors are now on the scene investigating if the owner was violating city rental laws. A crash investigation and a sea of flashing Police Lights shut down a main travel hub in Camden County overnight. They cloesed all lanes just past the interchange in route 38. But those lanes are back open this morning. We are making calls to police about what happened here and if anyone was hurt. Happening now in Atlantic County doctor charged with murdering his wife is facing a judge. Dr. James kauffman is part of the group that has a detention hearing today to determine whether bail is an option forts suspect. Last week, prosecutors charged coffman, three other men, and one woman in a drugrelated murder plot. A worker for the kauffman easy found April Kauffman dead inside the couples linwood home back in 2012. She was a popular jersey shore radio host. In north philadelphia, two mass gunman stormed a corner store and shot a man eating a sandwich and then took off. When Police Arrived just after 7 00 last night they found the victim in an aisle, his body was riddled with bullets. Doctors pronounced the 22yearold dead after he was rushed to the hop. Police say the victim often went to the north sixth street store and they believe he was targeted. Shot while waiting at a bus stop, Philadelphia Police say someone rattled off more than a dozen bullets in northern libertity around 9 30 last night. One of them hit a woman in the hip. Investigators dont believe she was an intended target. Police tell us the only evidence they found at the scene near 7th and green streets were bullet casings. For a Third Straight day dozens of women are giving testimony about their sexual abuse by former gymnastics dr. Larry nasser in the say live look now from his sentencing hearing in lancing, michigan, where another victim is testifying about how the abuse she suffered has impacted the way shes raising her children. Nasser has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing underage girls that were under his care. The first to testify against nasser this morning was elite gymnast jamie dancer. She was a member of the bronze olympic team in 2000. She was the first to accuse him in 2016. And in the past half hour a statement was read in court by Mckayla Maroney. The judge says if they would like to tell their story, the court will make the time and she will order a sentence on monday. The california parents accused of torturing their 13 children will be in court today and were learning new douetail about what happened in that home. The siblings were allowed to eat only one meal a day and shower just twice a year. Investigators say david and Louise Turpin kept their kids in squaller and had them chained to the beds as well for years. And at the airport 28 degrees in the in new jersey, 20s all around from lumberton to washington township, even hope we will township. These were all very cold numbers to start with but everyone will see enough sunshine to warm in more places, Chestnut Hill into the middle 30s today, just below freezing in doils town, and below freezing in coats town and allentown by a degree. Well see some melting into the day today. The wind willing blowing all day in new jersey and youll feel those winds into wilmington, thats why well top out in the milled 30s in wilmington and smerna 36 degrees. We had some clouds first thing this morning but no wet weather. That was all offshore and it is expected to push farther offshore. Look to the west, no storms coming our way for the next several days. Were going to be dry, not just today. And the changes for the winds, those are the winds that well experience this afternoon. 14 Miles Per Hour northwesterly winds in coatesville and in melville. Theyll set will down tonight, and the winds start to shift. Theyll be coming out of the west. Thats an important change. We continue to follow that breaking news from harrisburg where three Law Enforcement officers were shot this morning. One of them a u. S. Marshal has died. Nbc 10 steven fishers live at the scene. Steven, whats happening there now . Reporter well, erin, it was around 6 30 this morning when police tell us that a task force was out here on mulberry street to serve a search warrant to the house. And the house was on this side of that street. And then as that was happening, were told a u. S. Marshal was shot ultimately killed. Now this is still an active scene out here on mulberry street. There are evidence markers all over the sidewalk and the road. Its difficult to see from our Vantage Point here but police are going door to door interviewing neighbors. Again, a u. S. Marshal was shot and killed here this morning in harrisburg. A york city detective also shot but his injuries are nonlifethreatening. Another officer from harrisburg was injured in this altercation but he too is expected to be okay. Now the District Attorney here in Dauphin County did make a statement. Heres what he had to say just a short time ago. There is no current danger to the public. The person who used that force is not at large and so there is no danger to the public at large. Well, another blast of cold weather means water problems are getting worse across philadelphia. These are just a few of the pipe problems and water main breaks that have flooded neighborhoods just in the last month. The problem is so bad the city says it just cant keep up. The Philadelphia Water Department says it is getting so many phone calls to fix water mains its turning now to social media for help. You can request help for a problem through the facebook and twitter accounts, but, keep in mind that the department is backlogged with Service Requests and city crews are working 16hour shifts to make up for the surge in breaks. The Water Department said its had more water main breaks in the first two weeks of the year than in all of last january. Top priority is to get caught up on where were at. Customers should understand no one is ignoring you, no one is not paying attention to your call. The Water Department says it may take months before crews can actually catch up on the backlog. This afternoon theyre expected to vote to extend the budget again. Theyre also expected to introduce a compromise to avoid a shutdown. Neither option is expected to reach the president s desk. Democrats want protection for d. R. E. A. M. Ers included in the vote. They are the undocumented immigrants brought to the u. S. As children. The president wants a border wall. This morning, President Trump pushed back against his own chief of staff over that wall between the u. S. And mexico. The president tweeted, the wall is the wall. It has never changed or evolved from the first day i conceived it. Parts will be of necessity, see through, and it was never intended to be built in areas where there is natural protection such as mountains, waste lands, or tough rivers or water. Some democrats reported that trump aide john kelly told them there are parts of the border where a wall isnt needed. Right now President Trump . We need to send a strong message to our legislators that we are united on issues such as daca that so many of our students depend on. The womens march begins at logan square in center city at 2010 30 saturday morning. Its no secret that the majority of elected officials in the United States are men but more than ever women are stepping up and seeking public office, getting their voice dollars heard, working for kmang and to make a difference. But, how do you get started . Next month the Pennsylvania Center for women and poll politics is offering red to run Campaign Training for women here in philadelphia. Dana brown is the executive director of the pcwp in pittsburgh. Thanks for being here. Thanks for having me. Hillary clinton was not elected president , still, that hasnt stopped a lot of women who are seeking public office. So how did they get started if they have that desire . Well, one i want to applaud any woman who desires to run for office to begin with. Its a really, you know, just having that desire in itself is a good starting point. But certainly we know that running for office is not intuitive and so thats why centers like mine exist and we are there to help train and prepare women and teach women the skills that they need to be successful on the campaign trail. And maybe it will spark that interest then. Its a mix of education and inspiration for sure throughout the ready to run Campaign Training. The me too movement, its been huge. Have you seeing more interest in the wake of that because it affected not only hollywood but really workplaces across the country . Including harrisburg, as we know. So we definitely saw a bit of a trump bump, if you will, in 2017. Many of us in the women in politics area are calling it because it was, indeed, driven by largely Democratic Women who were not enthusiastic about a Trump Presidency and now find themselves looking to turn their, you know, activism and anger, if you will, into something really productive. And theyre seeking opportunities from school board on up. And so now were starting to see this momentum move into the me too movement. We know that there have been allegations come forward by multiple folks in harrisburg and weve had a resignation on new years eve by the fire commissioner. And so there are opportunities for women throughout the entire Common Wealth and were here to help prepare them. Talk about the Campaign Training event next month. So its a oneday, nonpartisan program. Theres no Public Policy litmus test to participate. And we really focus on skills building. So throughout the day you are going to learn fundraising skills, which we hear from women often times, you know, is of concern. No one likes to ask for money. So well teach you fundraising skills, media skills, how to navigate that Political Party system within your township or borough. And so theres a mix of inspiration as well. Plenty of sunshine but its cold all around even at the shore. Weve the good white caps on the water this morning. Those waves are blowing, thats a cold one. Right at the shore at avalon, 30 degrees, 30 in Atlantic City, and lots of 20s around for dennis township and thats not the only spot. Everybodys in the 20s inland, south jersey, philadelphia, delaware, lee my valley and the subbushtss. Uniform temperatures because of the steady wind thats blowing. Unionville is 26, spring city, and just a couple degrees warmer for college hill, 25 in lansdale. So its a cold one today for sure especially with that steady wind thats not going to let up during the afternoon. So our feels like temperatures, the wind chills are going to stay cool all day long. It will feel like 19 degrees at 4 30 this afternoon in allentown, 23 in vineland and 25 in philadelphia. As we go into the evening hours, the wind will die down a bit but the temperature will also be coming down because we have nice clear skies, which gives us plenty of sunshine during the day but cold nights. So were in store for another cold night but you wont see anything falling from the sky, not today, not tonight, not tomorrow. The nearest showers are offshore and theyre not coming anywhere near us. The next system that i expect to come into the area is moving into the Pacific Northwest and even idaho, montana, western montana getting a rain snow mix. Thats going to be a rainmaker for us. That wont be here today, tonight, tomorrow, even friday or the weekend. Its going to wait until the weekend comes to an end, which means were in good shape for the vikings eagles game. Much warmer than it was last weekend. 50 degrees at kickoff. Upper 40s at halftime with partly cloudy skies. The winds will be light the entire time and late in the game 46 degrees for the fourth quarter. Thats unseasonably warm for this time year, just a light breeze. The clouds will be building, but it will be dry. The wet weather will hold off until next week. Today just have to deal with the wind, that cold wind, 36 degrees the high temperature, will feel like about 26 degrees at the warmest today. Tomorrow after that cold morning temperature of 23, we warm to 45 and thats just the beginning. Into the 50s this weekend. 55 on saturday. Little bit cooler but a lofrt sunshine on sunday. Earlier in the day. The clouds will be increase but it will stay dry for the game. Sunday evening, monday, thats our first chance of showers. Even better chance of rainfall coming in on tuesday. But it will only be rain, it will be too warm for anything else and the milder weather will stick with us for wednesday, little bit cooler on thursday, then another warming trend heading into next weekend. And next saturday those few showers will come through with a few raindrops as well. Get ready for one of the biggest events of the new year, one of philadelphias longest running black tie galas, the hair of the dog will feature music, mingling, dancing, food and drink and proceeds go to a great cause. So its extremely beneficial to us because of the fact that we rely on donations. Yeah. And we certainly appreciate being the charity that was chosen this year. Talk about some of the services that you provide for local families. Well, we provide multiple services for kids ranging anywhere from age 2 up to about age 21. Our core program which is for the youngest kids about age 2 to kindergarten and then we have afterschool programs, saturday programs and an outpatient department. Breaking news in pennsylvanias capital. Someone shot and killed a u. S. Marshal and wound two other Law Enforcement officers who were serving a warrant in harrisburg. A detective from york is in the hospital and is expected to survive. An officer from harrisburg was injured and is expected to be okay. The mayor of harrisburg says that officer returned fire and critically injured the gunman. The authorities will give another update at 2 00 this afternoon and we will have that information for you on the nbc 10 app. Nbc 10 news starting at 4 00. All right. One more check of the forecast.
