You can definitely see its covering the roads there a little bit and some of it kind of moving around as cars move on top of it. Both directions on 73 doing okay, though, despite theres a crash. So so watching some of the crashes in the area and watching speeds. Westbound and eastbound on valley ford still not seeing any problems. Speeds there into the 60s. Meteorologist steve sosna is live. Youre tracking the conditions in college county. Whats the conditions like there . Reporter good morning, tracy. When we were driving out on 76 west we actually witnessed that change over. It was raining in kenwood. And when we got about to the junction 476 we saw the snow. And it snowed all west of there. You can see we have this slushy accumulation. And you can see that on the roadways when we had that venture out to the college area, this is route 29. And you can see we have that filmy surface developing. And that is slippery, wet snow. You can see the radar right now. Thats about 20 feet up in the air. And whats that doing is scanning the skies all around chester and Montgomery County. As we take a look youll be able to see some of those snow pockets right now taking place in college area, phoenixville, chester county. Were showing you neighborhood by neighborhood where that steady snow is occurring. Well take a look in the truck right now. And as you can see we have our whether centers up. And we are looking at a temperature of about 31 degrees. So everything falling out here in Montgomery County is sticking to the ground. And i will say your bridges, your overpasses, your on and offramps, you have to be very suspect of them because they will be the spots very slippery. Guys, back over to you. Thank you, steve. Heres a live look at 95. In south philadelphia the city expects an inch or so of snow, but if timing is the challenge, it could make driving difficult for your way to work. Crews have been loading salt trucks and will spread salt on primary, secondary roads and bridge decks. Theyll use snowplows if needed. Brookz counerks county are repeat this morning. That means more work for the only member of the Streets Department in tiny Saint Lawrence near reading. Hes responsible for digging out the entire community. And you have, you know, culdesac left until the very end and people cant get to their house. And i cant get to them until i have other stuff cleaned up. State Police Reported dozens of accidents yesterday morning, and theyre urging drivers to take it easy on the roads today. Now lets check the jersey shore. Heres a live look at the ocean city boardwalk. Kind of tough to see there because of that moisture moving through the area. Were starting to see the change over here at the nbc 10 studios. But the steadier snow is coming down in allentown. Here the radar is starting to show its trying to change over in philadelphia, too. Its picking up the snow a little higher up in the atmosphere. On the ground its still rain right now. But it will become snow in philadelphia. Where were seeing the steadier snow in upper western berks county and lee high, and now its starting to exit bucks county. Its very light snow and steve sosna mentioned, youre going to end up with a slushy mess out of this one in many suburbs. There you can see the rain that is an issue this morning. Becom the atmosphere cools down during the day. Weve been watching the temperatures overnight and theyre getting colder. Still just a little bit above in elkins park. The temperatures will cool down slowly. Well see that snow falling, but its going to take some time for the ground to cool down enough to get some accumulation in the city. Thats why were going to see more acululation in the suburbs. Crystal. Bill, like you just said were watching the temperatures very closely. And heres a live camera where you can see the flakes are now falling. Mix s in with the rain at some point, but were going to be tracking that change pretty consistently. So by 5 00 a. M. We should see a steady snow falling over philly. Its just going to be a very light snow. I can run through that future model and we can talk about the timing of when that snow is going to move through. Hour by hour model shows us where the snow is currently and that rain change over falling in parts of south jersey and into southern delaware. Running through just a little bit of time here, and its snow down through new castle county. Just changing over here at least through philadelphia county, trying to change over into parts of south jersey. Again, its that temperature struggle. It may support the snow making it to the ground up 30 or 34 degrees, but as it returns to the surface it may melt a bit. Falling through new jersey and into southern parts of delaware too where you can see temperatures right around that freezing mark. And then still a light snow between 8 00 and 10 00 a. M. By 11 00 a. M. That white coloration indicates at best just a few flurries lingering and then everything out of here as we get into those afternoon hours. This is really just a morning commute event and as phil was just mentioning north and west neighborhoods more likely to see slippery roadways. We go to your evening commute home and the wet roads should be okay. While the timing of the storm certainly is going to make driving a bit tricky and messing this morning. This is live look at allentown there on the left, and center city there on the right where the morning commute certainly will be tough for many people heading out this morning. You can see those streets are slick and wet. Be care tal. We have live cameras in a lot of places showing you what the conditions are like. Conditions different depending on where you are. Lets continue with Team Coverage with matt delucia. The lee high valley seeing heavier snow. We can kind of see. Reporter thats right, tracy and dray. We have seen steadier snowfall here in allentown here. And we just pulled up about ten minutes ago to our location here where you can see it has been fall [it has been accumulating on the roadways here. This is along cedarcrest boulevard right by hamilton boulevard. This is about a mile away from dourny park. But you can see here its pretty dead in terms of traffic. People staying inside right now. Were seeing more plow trucks and salt trucks on the highways than cars, which is good thing. I do have some video we just shot on our way over here where you can see some of those parking lots along hamilton boulevard there just when you come off of 309 and 576. The side streets not looking too good right now with the accumulation on the ground. We have at least an inch or two already on the ground at this point. So a lot of work ahead for these plow crews as we get into the Early Morning and into the morning rush for those folks who still do have to go to work. Were going to stay out here in allentown and give you a look at the conditions throughout the morning. Matt delucia, nbc 10 news. A lot of flakes down there in the lee high valley. You might be thinking oh, its rain, this is nothing, but were in the transition phase right now. Wait until you see that line move across. This is such a slow moving system. We watched that line off to the north and west and lee high valley and all day yesterday. It finally made its move late last night and overnight and still on the move this morning. This is not snowy move. You can see a little bit of very light snow in the light, but its really hard to make out with the lightness of the snowfall. The wind, thats the cold air thats driving into the area. Thats bringing the snow from the lee high valley into the suburbs and philadelphia. And eventually it may reach the shore, but there may not be any accumulation with this. Thats a live view. Thats just rain falling right now at the shore. So the slushy mess right now is off in the lee high valley and some of the suburbs. South jersey the temperature is a little bit warm. Theyre coming down, too, but it is going to take some time. Its going to take a few hours at least for those temperatures to come down a little bit more and for the grounds temperature to get cold enough to see a little bit of an accumulation. But thats going to be a slow cool down. So were not expecting much of an accumulation in new jersey. 35 right now in vorhees, bridgeten, lummerten, 35. The winds bringing in that colder air. Theyre blowing this morning, and theyll even be blowing this afternoon. 13, 14 mile an hour winds, 16 mile an hour winds for wilmington. It is going to be colder than yesterday. So much of what is on the ground, its a positive for this system its going to be staying put unless its clear or treat said. Just enough to make things slippery during the morning commute, which is why weve issued the first alert. Getting light snow now in new castle county, delaware. Thats just rain at the shore. But look how that edge is making progress pushing into new jersey so woere seeing the change ove there. Allentown, its starting to taper off a little bit. And there arent going to be some breaks in the precipitation, so its not going to with us all morning long. Its going to taper off as we go into the midmorning hours. There you can see some breaks in the d. C. Area, too. And delaware much of it is dry right now. You still have a responsibility of a littwet weather this morni. Well see neroli light snow rapidly and as it tapers off as we go through the morning hours. Warmer temperatures on the way. A look at that in the ten day on day.
