Were in the 20s and low 30s right now. And we will climb into the low 40s in delaware, upper 40s in philadelphia. The best chance of seeing some snowflakes during the day today will be the suburbs and especially into the lee high valley. Ill break it down hour boy hour in a few minutes. But first Jessica Boyington with your first alert traffic. 78 right here on lee high street, not a lot of cars out the door here. We are paying attention to the schuylkill expressway. We are seeing some delays here on the eastbound side. The westbound side is back open following an earlier rain closure. It was closing traffic off right around the vine street expressway and now theyre starting to clear it. By the time you head out the door now if youre watching this at home, you should be fine on the to schuylkill expressway. On the northbound south from 295 to 495, an 11 minute trip and speeds into the 60s. As we track the incoming snow, were also keeping an eye on the delaware river. Ice jams clogged the river sending water over the sides of the banks on both sides. And the water has receded now, but a Flood Warning is still in effect. Katey zachary is live on the river in yardly. And what are conditions like now . Reporter were going to show you why that Flood Warning is still in effect. Take a look behind me. This is the river in yardly. So before bucks county and mercy county, new jersey. And as you can see there are ice chunks behind me. That is as far as the eye can see. The water from the river that just cant flow properly dawn stream because of the ice chunks have spild over in some parts, and you can see its flooded a pargz of the street. So there are barricades up protectioning drive protecting drivers and forcing cars to turn around. You can see some people, it even looks like kids decided to go for a walk on the ice. Thats incredibly dangerous and strongly advised against as the chunks can and are moving. So they also can collapse into the water which means you can fall into the river, too. We talked to police here in the yardly morrisville area and asked them about any additional flooding causing road closures and they havent told us of any. So at this point we just go of portions of river road closing because of water flowing onto the banks and the road. School buses our not running, as many cars were not on the streets yesterday but everyone is back to work and school today, and they could encounter some problems. Philadelphia Police Investigating two different deadly shootings. In north philadelphia officers say someone shot a 27yearold man twice in the chest. He managed to stagger a short distance along 12th street before he collapsed and died. Police are now looking at Surveillance Video for clues about who shot him. Also in northwest Philadelphia Police say they found a man laying along the road along 71st street. Somebody had shot him in the head and making calls to find more out about the victim and that crime. And new report to find insight into what happened when a University Student was murdered in california. Blake bernstein was stabbed more than 20 times and found in a shallow grave. A classmate is now charged with am err. Bernstein was home on winter break at the time of his murder. Happening today, students begin classes at Stockton University for the First Time Since one of their own died in a murder over the holidays at the hands of her brother. That light snow being reported at the airport and wilmington not even showing up on the radar. So flurries there. A little bit more impressive in burkes county and western burkes county. Hasnt reached reading yet, but were going to see showers on and off during the day. Most of the day were looking at a dry day for wilmington, philadelphia, and south jersey. And with temperatures warming during the day we may see some rain showers before the snow starts falling late tonight. There you can see the snow inching into this hour, and to bucks county and into northern Montgomery County. Still dry in philadelphia and trenton at that hour. Those snow showers around at noontime into the lunchtime hour. Still waiting in philadelphia at 1 30 in the afternoon. Most of those showers are going to stay off to the north and west even late into the afternoon. By tonight, though, the main system starts swinging into the area, finally. Its going to bea waiting game. And this is close to 2 00 in the morning tomorrow morning. Thats light snow developing for the lee high valley and into the suburbs. And rain showers at the shore. However, her uber driver behaved so erratically she not only mised her flight but also got left stranded on the side of the road. Carla guzman filed a lawsuit yesterday against the Ride Sharing Company for the incident that happened this past june. Guzman claimed her driver became paranoid and verbally abusive. 15 minute into the ride guzman says the driver pulled over and left her at the base of the pennsylvania turnpike on route 309. Stranding her early in the morning. She thinks the driver was under the influence. When you gut an uber you think youre getting a safe service and that was not what happened to me. Uber says it will not comment on legal matters but says the driver has been suspended. Olympic gymnast simone bile says shes heartbroken but no longer afraid to her her story. His is where its going to be for most of the day today. We will see some scattered showers farther south and east. But most of the steadier snow is going to wait for tonight and tomorrow. And by the time this thing ends these are the snow totals were expecting. Not much in southwest new jersey. 1 to 2 inches in wilmington, philadelphia, and trenton. That happens overnight tonight. And for the lee high valley, that 3 to 5 inches thats on track for tomorrow morning and by tomorrow afternoon, well, a slippery commute home. The weekend a warm up. Temperatures into the 50s for philadelphia, the suburb, new jersey, the jersey shore, and delaware. A bit cooler for the lee high valley. Sunday will be a bit warmer. So the first alert runs until noon tomorrow. Scattered, light, snow showers during the day and some neighborhoods could be in for the few sprinkles or rain showers.
