On saturday the president defended himself against claims in the bombshell new book fire and fury about his mental stability and his Decision Making in office. Yesterday we were talking about trump how he tweeted himself calling himself a staple genius. Weve never seen the president be so explicit in his own defense. This is unchartered water. What does it say when were talking about the psychological fitness of our sitting president in. Reporter well, as you point out, the president himself is stoking the fire. This was a conversation that was maybe being had at cocktail parties in washington and new york. Yes, the fire and fury book has sort of brought it up a little bit more, and all of a sudden you had a president yesterday, i think you clearly had a white house yesterday that was concerned enough about the coverage of the president , of this book and this idea that people around him think that hes unfit for office that they orchestrated that little event yesterday at camp david so that the president can say i am a very stable genius. Actually, thats what he tweeted and then he talked about that he went to the best colleges. So, look, i think this is not a good conversation for this white house. I am surprised at how much theyre almost playing into the narrative themselves on this, but some of its i think being driven by the president himself and his own reacts thions that seeing on television throughout yesterday morning and well see what he tweets this morning. But, chuck, that moment that punched us all in our gutt when we saw him speak yesterday, when he said sloppy steve. Some of the most explosive details of this book came from Steve Bannons comments. Its been said of trumps inner circle that youre never actually fully out but bannons banishment feels a little different this time. Is this permanent . Reporter its hard to say that any banishment in trumps orbit is every permanent. Theres plenty of examples of fired staffers, even staffers that have been sued by donald trump to make it back into the fold. So i would never sit here and say never say never. However, i can tell you this, the staff at the white house has a i think an anger and perhaps even hatred of bannon thats at a level that i have never heard expressed before before the book was released. Weve learned this week about developing investigations into the Clinton Foundation and the author of that controversial dossier, but is this a real investigation or is that just a political side show . Well, there is an offender who was here a long time ago. He said, you know, were both kind of taken out of the chaos, thrown into prison, both get numbers and we end up together and theres some truth to that. They think some of the guys feel like society didnt want either one of them and theyre kind of going to help each other. Reporter still in his early 20s alex romines has known his amount of chaos. As far as prison is concerned, this is not his first rodeo. Whats the most important thing you think youve learned out here . Patience. Theres nothing that will teach you more patience than working a horse because you cant just jump to a conclusion, be mad. Its a horse. It feeds off your energy. If you get mad and upset, then the horse is going to be frazzled not knowing what you want to do. Ive been training now about ten months. Ive learned more about responsibility than in my entire life. Reporter thats saying a lot. Used to be that to train a horse, you had to break it. There is often something broken in the men who find themselves in prison. How many times have you been incarcerated . Oh, a handful. Ramon ragoda lived through hell. He was a philippine soldier fighting alongside american troops where he was taken prisoner by the japanese after the three month battle of baton. He was one of the 75,000 filipino and american soldiers forced to march 65 miles in the heat without food and water. Troops who couldnt keep up were beaten and killed in a horrifying recession that history knows as the death march. He sought refuge until he was healthy enough to leave. He continued to fight the japanese until the end of the war in 1945. He later moved to San Francisco where he worked for the u. S. Military and Veterans Affairs and then later on transport ships during the korean and vietnam wars. He was a fierce advocate for the more than 250,000 filipinos who fought with the United States soldiers. He was awarded a gold medal. He received that medal at his bedside just last month.
