Reporter vai and tracy, this is the day that new jersey voters will decide the next governor, who will succeed Chris Wallace in the Governors Office here. One of the polling locations is here in cherry hill. All the locations open at 6 00 this morning. Democrat phil murphy is scheduled to vote in Monmouth County at noon. Before he casts his ballot, he is scheduled to make two stops here in south jersey including a get out the vote rally in swedesboro and another stop in burlington county. Republican kim guadagno is scheduled to cast her vote in Monmouth County, as well. Both candidates have been pushing hard since the primary in june. Guadagno is the current lieutenant governor, so she is looking to slide up to the top spot. You may see officials helping with legal issues, that of course to ensure the integrity of the election. Once again, polls open at 6 00 a. M. And close at 8 00 p. M. For now live in cherry hill, matt delucia, nbc10 news. One of the other races well be keeping an eye on is the race for Philadelphia District attorney. This race pits Beth Grossman against larry krasner. Grossman is a longtime prosecutor already working in the d. A. s office. Krasner is a civil rights and defense attorney who spent decades working in the philadelphia justice system. As you would expect, grossman and krasner differ on key issues. Philadelphias designation as a sanctuary city is one of those top issues. Grossman says she cannot endorse the designation but will enforce the law as set by mayor kenney. Krasner fully supports being a sanctuary city and will resist the president s policies if need be. Philadelphias last top railroad, seth williams, resigned after prosecutor, seth williams, resigned after admitting to bribes for political favors. In delaware, no elections today, the next primary election is nearly a year away in september of 2018. New details about the man who turned a texas house of worship into a mass murder scene. Gunman Devin Patrick kelley may have been hunting for his motherinlaw when he opened fire on the church. Theres no clear motive for the shooting that killed 26, many of them thinner. Police say them children. Police say kelley recently sent his motherinlaw threatening texts. They stopped short of calling the spree revenge. One eyewitness watched in horror as a victim ran from the church. One of the victims was running like this, he had blood all over his arms and face. And we let him in. He said, theres a shooter. Kelley had a history of Domestic Violence against his wife and child and was discharged from the air force for bad conduct. After the latest shooting, they tell us they struggle in making sanctuaries a place where people feel both welcome and safe. I pray that it doesnt have to get to that type of place that we have to have metal detectors. That would take away from the worship experience and getting in touch with god. Leaders we talked with say theyre divided over whether they should bring in outside security. Pennsylvanias State Capitol was bathed in the colors of the texas flag, red, white, and blue. Were hearing from a pizza shop owner who said he wasnt going to be a victim and took on an armed robber in his store. This is a wild story and video showing the gunman in action wearing a spiderman mask and waving a handgun around. It was sunday, he walked into the store, ordered workers to open the register.
