Katy zachry is checking on the impact to your commute overall. Whats it like there now . Reporter i can tell you that conditions now along new Jersey Transits river line are not much different than they were last night. Thats when new Jersey Transit suspended part of the river line between the Waterfront Entertainment Center where we are and the walter rand transportation center. They suspended service between the stops because of flooding. We are working to find out from new Jersey Transit if that stretch will resume activity. The first train is scheduled for around this time. Well let you know if the trains are running. Look at video from last night. The conditions that caused commuting headaches are similar to whats happening this morning as you wake up. Flooding kept trains from running. Across the river from where we are in camden, in philadelphia, septa has advised passengers to be patient as trains may be laid this morning due to flooding and downed trees and wires from the increasing winds. Now, september also tells us something theyre doing a little differently this morning. Theyre placing extra personnel strategically along the rail system. If there is a downed tree or power line that affects service, crews can get more quickly to the affected area. As you see in camden, the wind has really picked up. One in eight women will develop Breast Cancer in her lifetime. Katy zachry introduces you to one of the women who has a Family History of fighting through the tough times. This is my mom. This is me. Im a december baby. Reporter amy link grew up thinking she, too, would get Breast Cancer. As a young girl, she saw her mother suffer through the terrifying diagnosis which ultimately claimed her life. From my mother tulg passing at such a young age actually passing at such a young age, made me want to be proactive. Reporter in her 20s, she got mammograms. In her 30s, she found a lump. Around that time, she learned she carries a gene abnormality linked to Breast Cancer. The lump was biopsied, it was cancerous. Link told her doctor with no hesitation take them off. Hes like, boy, you have a lot of moxie. Reporter after chemotherapy and radiation, shes been cancer free for 11 years. She credits so much to her oncologist whos also the medical director at m. D. Anderson Cancer Center at cooper. I think its really a new world in many ways in how we treat Breast Cancer. Reporter recently scientists have identified about 70 more gene abnormalities that are linked to cancer. The doctor says advances are being made every day in genetics, medicine, and surgery. You can move on. You can keep on going. Youre going to be able to live your life and make decisions. The research that is out there now is incredible. Reporter in camden, katy zachry, nbc10 news.
