JACKSON, MI – Water use rates could be raised in Jackson as the city seeks ways to pay for a lead service line replacement program and the decline in revenue from a major client loss.
The city is looking for ways to fund an estimated $120 million needed to pay for the replacement of about 1,800 lines each year, improve the water plant and cover the loss of revenue from Consumers Energy declining its use of city water at its gas-fired electric generating plant on Chapin Street.
