A PROJECT has been launched in memory of a Keighley councillor to help Malawian villagers access clean water.
An online fundraising page has been set-up by Muhammad Ibraheem, from Keighley, so a desperately-needed borehole can be provided for a rural community in the south-east-African country.
The campaign, being staged in conjunction with Green Crescent Aid UK, aims to raise £2,000.
The initiative is in memory of Keighley Central councillor and former Lord Mayor of Bradford Abid Hussain, who died on Christmas Eve.
“Councillor Hussain was a selfless individual who worked tirelessly to help anyone in need,” said Mr Ibraheem.
“He served not only in the UK, but internationally, with several charities to fundraise and help people devastated by natural events and those in extreme poverty.
