ROCKFORD — She’s back, and she has a new companion in her life.
Louise the peregrine falcon is atop the Rockford Register Star News Tower once again and is with a new mate named Brian.
The couple has produced five eggs that are now in a drainage channel on the eighth floor of the historic tower’s exterior.
“I was not expecting the fifth egg at all. It was a complete surprise,” Sinnissippi Audubon Society board president Jennifer Kuroda said. “A typical clutch size for peregrines is three to four eggs. Five is unusual. Do I think they’ll all hatch? Probably not, but if they do, we’ll be so lucky. It will be so incredible if all five hatch.”
