Wartsila to provide radio, navigation tech for Arctic LNGCs
Finnish technology firm Wartsila has signed a contract to provide technology in radio and integrated navigation systems for 10 ice-breaking LNG carriers (LNGCs) that will handle gas from Novatek's Arctic LNG-2 export project, due online in 2023.
The order was placed in January, Wartsila said on April 19, and is being executed in partnership with South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries. It builds on an order Wartsila secured last summer to equip five LNGCs with integrated bridge systems. The additional 10 tankers would be fitted with the same Wartsila Navi-Radar, Navi-Sailor and Navi-Conning solutions.
