A 46-year-old Wantage man was fatally stabbed in an altercation in the township Thursday evening, the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office said on Friday.
The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. at a home on Lewisburg Road, according to Trooper Alejandro Goez, a New Jersey State Police spokesman. The single-family home is located just off of
Route 23.
The man was taken by ambulance to Newton Medical Center where he died of his injuries, according to Goez. A 59-year-old man, also of Wantage, was also stabbed during the incident but was treated at the hospital and released.
Goez and First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller declined to release their names, citing the continuing investigation. Mueller said there is no sign of a continuing threat to the public.
