We have had it easy in new york city but in newark had 10 90 degree days, newark has had 25 90degree days. A few miles makes a big difference with respect to that especially because in new york city sometimes we get the refreshing sea breeze coming in later on in the afternoon but in newark you dont get that. So we head outside right now, we check out a view of central park up toward the jackie o reservoir, back up to 88, had fallen down to 86 as a nearby storm spewed out some cooler that storm affected areas up in George Washington bridge, inwood, the bronx, middle part of the afternoon, got a brief downpour from that. Around 30 miles an hour. The high on the day, 95, that tied the record from 1944, over 70 years ago. The sun setting at 7 52. Still steamy tomorrow with a spotty storm mainly over the west of new york city. This type of air mass you can never rule out a shower or thundershower. Near normal on wednesday and thursday in terms of temperature but the humidity hangs on and our next chance of getting widespread heavy downpours comes in for thursday night into early friday as our front kind of gets hung up over the tristate area. So 88 right now in the park, but still look at degrees in newark. 91 at teterboro, 84 at jfk. Newark did tie a record as well. 84 at belmar, 95 in morristown, look at dichotomy between the coast and inland here, 91 at newburgh, 94 your temperature at poughkeepsie. The radar picture showing some of those popup showers and storms mainly south of new york city over western parts of Monmouth County, this is i195 here, heres Upper Freehold so just north of there, that storm sitting in the same spot and that could cause heavy downpours for a while during the next hour or so. Steamy during the day tomorrow, not quite as hot as today. A high getting up to 91, maybe a shower or storm mainly north and west as we head into wednesday, warm and humid out there, more of the same, 84, though, so we get back down closer to normal by the middle part of the week. Accuweather forecast for tonight, could be a stray thundershower early, especially south of the city and then quite warm and sticky only going down to 78 for a low in central park. Sunny to partly cloudy, another hot, humid day, not quite as hot as today, 91 could be a spotty afternoon thunderstorm especially north and west of the city. Maybe a spotty storm early tomorrow night and patchy clouds, warm and humid, down to about 75. Coming up next half hour in your accuweather forecast, we will tell you how this front as it advances into the eastern part of the country will affect our weather again thursday night and friday and more importantly the air mass behind the front as we head into the weekend. New questions tonight over the nypds use of force, video those a mans arrest last year that quickly turned violent but now Eyewitness News has learned that that man was never charged and now hes speaking out. Investigator jim hoffer is here with the exclusive new details. Jim. Reporter when making an arrest on a crowded sidewalk, police are trained to deescalate the situation but as this video seems to show, police triggered the violence and what we have learned since is that the unarmed man alleged to have had drugs had all the charges dropped and the sergeant ended up in trouble. Police officers approached francisco at last years dominican day parade after police say they saw him make a drug sell. Video appears to show caminero following instructions to put his hands up. When i put my hands up, they were searching, when he said give me your i. D. , my i. D. Is in my pockets so i went to give him my i. D. I didnt even put my hands inside my pocket and he just slammed me in the gate. Reporter thats who Police Sergeant rushes over and punches him in the face several times before caminero was tackled to the ground by four officers. They keep screaming, give me your hand but how im giving you my hand when i barely can move were were you re reporter were you resisting arrest . Not at all. Reporter hes struck at least 10 times before he is cuffed. We showed the video to a professor of Police Science at john j. College who says in her mind the officers did not use excessive force. People feel extremely violated because in terms of police procedure, they executed an arrest and acted within the it doesnt appear that hes resisting in any way. Hes completely flat on the ground and theres just constant beating from all angles. Im not sure what the professor would have wanted mr. Caminero to do at that point. Reporter in fact, caminero was never charged with resisting arrest and we learned just days ago that all drug dropped. Perhaps most revealing is that the nypd tells us that the sergeant seen in the video disciplined. And his attorney filed a civil rights suit against the nypd claiming false arrest and failure to train and properly supervise its police officers. I believe they should attempt to diffuse the situation rather than escalate it. One of the officers that was squishing my neck and the other one was punching my face.
