Dozens of people arrived at Roselawn Memorial Park Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the life of a fallen veteran and longtime local Saline County Sheriff’s Office employee, even though there were few present that knew her personally.
Dixie Lee Kinney, who was born on Sept. 17, 1946, in Duncan, Okla, passed away in December 2020 without much celebration. Roselawn later received her cremated remains in their mail, as Kinney had prearranged her service, with no known family members or friends attending.
Only the American Legion Riders Chapter 62, which includes just nine members, the presiding pastor, Blaine Herron, of Emmanuel Foursquare Church and Roselawn employees were expected to show.
