The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government's continued insistence that its Everyone In policy on housing rough sleepers is still "ongoing" has been called into question by a senior homeless policy expert.
On Wednesday, the ministry attacked Sir Keir Starmer for claiming it was “turning [its] back on people without a home” by not renewing the Everyone In drive against rough sleeping.
In an unusual move, the ministry’s official Twitter account said the Labour leader’s claim was “not true” and that the drive spearheaded by Baroness Louise Casey to successfully find accommodation for every rough-sleeper during the first lockdown was continuing. The ministry told LGC it was investing £1.5bn on homelessness over two years.
