WEST CANAAN — Progress should be measured in milestones. It took seven seasons, but Stevens High girls basketball coach Ivy Condon claimed a big one on Thursday.
Freshman Kiley Bundy scored 13 points and hit three key free throws in the fourth quarter as Stevens edged Mascoma, 41-35, in an NHIAA Division III preliminary-round tournament win at Kehoe Gymnasium. That gave Condon, the Cardinals’ seventh-year coach, her first postseason victory.
The foul-line effort proved essential for the Cards. The Royals (1-13) held Stevens without a fourth-quarter field goal, requiring a 7-for-13 effort at the charity stripe for Condon’s crew to secure victory.
