US restricting visas to Ethiopian, Eritrean officials over Tigray conflict as violence continues

The United States announced it is restricting visas to Ethiopia and Eritrean officials accused of fuelling the conflict in the Ethiopian Tigray region. Since November, it has been the target of violence after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed sent in troops to detain regional leaders of the ruling party TPLF. More than a million refugees were forced to flee the region, according to UNICEF.
