New Zealand and the United Kingdom are heading into a fourth round of free trade negotiations next month, with thorny differences over market access for New Zealand’s agricultural products.
Even as both sides insist they are making good progress in negotiations on a bilateral trade deal, which began in June last year, food products – especially meat and dairy – remain a sticking point.
“We know that agricultural market access is a priority for New Zealand, and the UK has sensitivities in this area – so it probably is the most challenging area of negotiation, but we’re committed to working through it and reaching an agreement that works for both our economies,” British High Commissioner Laura Clarke told
