Two dozen GOP lawmakers from Louisiana back Trump's election fraud claims, asking congressmen to intervene
Two dozen GOP lawmakers from Louisiana have waded into the national debate over the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election's outcome.
The state legislators have sent a letter to Louisiana's Republican congressmen asking them to reject Democratic President-elect Joe Biden's electors from six swing states.
The GOP lawmakers back President Donald Trump's claims of widespread voter fraud despite nearly 60 court rulings that dismissed such allegations based on a lack of evidence.
"Nineteen states have challenged the unconstitutional 'appointment' of the electors for the six states where much of the fraud occurred," state Rep. Beryl Amedee, R-Gray, said in a news release. "It is clear that roughly half the country disputes the 'results' of the election in these swing states. Louisiana worked hard to protect election integrity. For Congress to casually certify election results from states where blatant fraud was tolerated is offensive and unacceptable."
