Two crashes occur in county Tuesday evening

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to two crashes within an hour Tuesday evening.
According to the sheriff’s office, Justin Becher, 20, of Holgate was northbound on County Road 16C near County Road F in Pleasant Township at 9:32 p.m. when, due to ice on the roadway, his vehicle slid into a pole and struck it on the rear driver side.
Becher was not injured, and damage to his car was minor.
In a separate crash, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 24 near County Road 17 in Napoleon Township at 10:15 p.m.
Bakhtawar Singh, 52, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was eastbound on Rte. 24, which had snowy conditions, when his semi came across the median and into the westbound lanes. A vehicle driven by Alan G. Seibert, 54, of Grover Hill was westbound on Rte. 24 and struck the rear trailer axle of Singh’s semi as it was jackknifing.
