TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved concierge of the Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and two-time Pride of Jersey finalist who has died at the age of 57.

Born in Madeira, Hugo de Castro moved to Jersey when he was 12 to join his parents. He attended St Helier Boys’ School, before working at The Savoy Jersey for five years and then joining The Grand.
Cherished by many for his outstanding service to the Island’s visitors, Mr de Castro worked as head concierge of The Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa for 38 years, looking after everyone from members of the royal family to celebrities including Tom Jones, McFly and Lenny Henry.
