The logistics of getting the asphalt over the saddle to the road is a tightly choreographed dance.
Asphalt is dropped out of the plant into loading trucks at about 180 degrees Celsius and must be laid at around 165 C, giving a limited time to get the molten rock over the hill and to the paving site.
