The Obama Administration will recommend that all Public Schools allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms according to their chosen gender identity. In excerpts of the letter obtained by the new york times, the white house maintains the desire to accommodate others miscomfort cannot justify a policy that singles out and disadvantages a certain class of students. Failure to comply would put the students at risk of losing federal funding. The guidance comes in the same week the Justice Department took legal action against the state of North Carolina over its law limiting the use of Public Restrooms to the gender on a persons birth certificate.
