The winds will continue picking up as we look towards tomorrow. So its going to be a windy, cold day with temperatures in the 30s temperatures that will be stuck below freezing. Right now, a fouryear veteran of the Sheriffs Department is in Critical Condition with a shotgun wound after a gun battle with a suspect. We are live from baltimore shock trauma. Thats where the officer was taken after he was shot. Reporter yeah, mike, at this point, police are cautiously optimistic, saying the deputy is only out of his first surgery. The head of baltimore shock trauma says that the injuries so severe that it could go on weeks, maybe months. Maryland state police say the body armor but the blast hit just under it as close range and in the torso. Police say it happened in chestertown in a matter of seconds. Deputy hogan was escorting a woman who went to pick up belongings at the home where she lived after she had gotten into a physical altercation with her boyfriend yesterday. After midnight, the deputy brought her back and another argument broke out, only this time, investigators say the boyfriend pulled out a shotgun and fired off a round before the deputy and suspect exchanged fire at each other. Both struck one another. You see a gunshot wound and the entrance wound is like that, you see a shotgun blast and the entrance wound is like that. The family is having a tough time, as is the Law Enforcement family and the community and surrounding jurisdictions, its tough. Police say the same suspect also hit a 7eleven on John Carlisle street. In the meantime, Montgomery County police are investigating an Armed Robbery and carjacking at a shell station in Silver Spring this month. And three other robberies at a nearby bp station in late november. Its believed this man is behind all four robberies. She was joking around with the deputies onscene. And being jovial so we were happy to see that.
