We found there was a need to change operations in prince georges county, but im not going to comment on other chiefs decisions, because each community is different. You do not need to make that change. Thats interesting, chief. So what is it that youre doing that you dont have to change that other Police Departments around the country might start doing . Well again, bruce. Every decision and its a difficult decision for a chief to make is based on their own views and their own interactions with their community. In prince georges county, we did not wait for the Community Leaders to come to us to express concerns. We asked if they this concerns, and we were able to assess whether or not there was a feeling of concern. Whether or not there was the potential for mounting expressions of distrust. We didnt in furtherance of that, we chose to continue to run our operations as we do every day. What do you do when you do find youve got a bad Police Officer whos got an incredibly large number of complaints against him, or a cop youve got problems with. What do you do . How do you get them out . Our track record on this is clear. Thats where i again have to thank our attorney angela brooks and also refer back to the work of my immediate predecessor mcgraw. We collect that evidence. We take that to the states attorney. They conduct an independent investigation and then where its appropriate, they level criminal charges. In those instances, where we bring those matters to our attention, it goes back to our Inspector General for more critical review. Then we hold that officer accountable according to our own internal administrative procedures. Let the minority. A very small number of officers in they department, but particularly in my department that are engaged in that kind of behavior. It all started when a prisoner was being moved from a holding cell this afternoon somehow grabbed a law officers gun and opened fire. He killed two bailiffs and wounded a deputy. He died in a shootout with police. The deputy and civilian are the expected to recover. Michigan state police have secured the courthouse and theyve begun an investigation. Funerals will be held this week for three of the dallas Police Officers killed during a protest march. Officers held a moment of silence this afternoon outside Dallas Police headquarters where a memo officers last week continues to grow. Police say gunman Micah Johnson was responsible and that he had been planning an even bigger attack. Johnson had hundreds of rounds of ammunition attached to his body. Officers killed him using a bomb on a police robot. They encourage those who have problems with police to become part of the solution. Get out there protest line and put an application in.
