Some of these Naval District Washington Police officers responded last fall when alexis was killing people at the navy yard and it is still a raw wound for some people here. It is important that we are pray paired for this kind of situation. We have to continue to do this. These guys have good reason to drill, besides the Navy Yard Shooting, theres the fact that these kinds of incidents, active shooters, have doubled in recent years and no one seems to know why. Much like at the navy yard, some of the victims here thought their attacker might have an accomplice. Was there a second shooter . No. There was no second shooter . We have breaking news out of d. C. Where a d. C. Council member, tommy wells, is calling for the resignations of the citys deputy mayor for Public Safety and the fire chief. Wells says the Fire Department suffers from mismanagement and a record of failure and if he is sworn to the case of cecel mills. Mills had a heart attack and collapsed across the street from a d. C. Fire house. He died at the hospital and an internal investigation said firefighters knew he needed help, but none came out to do it. A spokesman said councilman wells is pulling a shameless political stunt. Wells is running for mayor and mayor gray, of course, is running for reelection. And they are two in a very crowded race for d. C. Mayor and it is about to enter the final month and last night, no candidate emerged with the coveted endorsement from the metropolitan Labor Council. That group represents 45,000 Union Households in the district. Bruce johnson reports on why Union Leaders could not agree on a candidate. D. C. Incumbent has doubled the Union Endorsement of his challengers according to his campaign manager. But this is about a most coveted endorsement that got away last night. The metropolitan Labor Council failed to pick a candidate for d. C. Mayor. Adrian fenty was the last incumbent not to get the nod. Investing in youth and talent. Vince gray becomes the second. What happened in. Well, one, it was a crowded field. And because it was a crowded field and because the mayor got in late. Following last nights vote, the ceo agreed in private not to disclose publicly why they didnt endorse anybody for mayor.
