Well introduce you to the authors of the book, all american boy, which has local students caught talking about race. Right after the break. Darn near impossible to pick a headline out of President Trumps News Conference yesterday. Were going to talk about it with face the nation host john z29kuz zstz y29kuy ysty im on it. Ar does weathertech go to protect your vehicle . Weathertech. Made right, in america know you have a dedicated advisor and team who understand where you come from know you can craft an Investment Plan as strong as your values know that together, you can establish a meaningful legacy with the guidance and support of your dedicated pnc wealth management® team. Seems like the entire world is talking about President Trumps epic News Conference yesterday. Always great to invite in with us, face the nation host john dickerson. So many topics coming up in that News Conference. Im curious from your sources and politicians in the loop who you have been talking to. What are they still talking about well, republican lawmakers, democrats obviously are opponents of the president. So theyre critical of him. Republicans are nervous. Which is that they recognize that the press conference was one that a lot of donald Trump Supporters love. They love the authenticity. They love that hes punching the press in the nose. They hear him talk about jobs and getting rid of regulations. So they love it. What makes lawmakers nervous in washington is that governing is different than campaigning. And tactics that do well for you in a campaign, which is arguing why youre doing better than the other person, sometimes dont translate to making and selling policy, which is a little more complicated. And people need to hear what youve get to say. And you need to convey information. And more the point, the president needs to provide information that gives cover to other republican lawmakers when they come home for recess. Also, i should say, unpredictability. There was a lot of that in the conference. Thats what makes the press they dont know which way to go. They dont know about donald trump, as hes unpredictable. A reporter caughted out the president called out the president s remarks, saying no, you didnt get even even more electoral votes than Ronald Reagan did . Im wondering if those are having an effect on the congressional level. Because they have, to to approve everything they have done. The question of truthfulness has been going on for a long time. And what republicans have essentially have decided is he has flaws, but he has considerable upsides. If you look at all of the problems donald trump may have on the positive side. You have the fact that hes picked a Supreme Court nominee that republicans are thrilled about. Then many of his cabinets they are thrilled about. And quite those cabinet picks are going to put in place. And they also know he is very much behind their plans to replace the Affordable Care act. For financial institution. And also for reforming the tax code. So they may get more work done under donald trump than they ever dreamed under any other republican president. And they are willing to take the down side, when theres that much upside. So he can basically say whatever he wants. John dickerson. Thank you. We appreciate your time. If ranking the president of the United States is getting a lot of attention today cspan is ranking the president ial historians. Abraham lincoln comes in number 1.
