Weve got this breaking news from south jersey, carstarphan evened out of control and slammed into a house, our jenny joyce is there on the scene with what we can see right now in pennsgrove. Reporter good morning, karen, and at this point police tell us they are still looking for the driver that hit a fence, plowed into the fence, and as you can see, there is a big hole going into the basement of this home on east line street. According to police, the driver had four passengers had his vehicle, three females, one male, one female transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and that driver took off. The accident happened around 1 30 this morning. According to police, pennsgrove officers were trying to pull the driver over, but the car would not stop. At some point it lost control, went off the road, plowed into fence, as you can see again, and property here on this block, Carneys Point police, the next town over, also responds the to the accident scene. People who live in the home say theyre okay. They tell us this is not the first time someone has lost control and driven up onto their property. New Jersey State Police is investigating the accident. We are told police again are actively looking for the person who was behind the wheel of the car. What you can hear, we walk little forward is a private generator, and thats safely locked up and it is on a second deck up there. We will walk a little. You can put the camera light back on and you will see this thing, little blue machine up there almost two stories up. And thats the noise you hear throughout the neighborhood. One good news item is that where i saw generators, powering traffic lights, theyre all still humming. Twentythird and clearfield, 23rd and fox street, those intersections, their traffic lights are back on. Just checked, the peco power outage map, and the number is back down below a thousand. But it is still above 900. Now it got down below a thousand yesterday. Then something happened, and power went back out to people who had power restored for a bit. So, there is no guarantee that this number might not go back above a thousand. So they still havent figured out what caused the peco fire. Here we are 38 hours plus and counting, and lots of people are without power. So when peco says weve got 922 customers without power, thats 922 billing customers. Well, if eight people live in a house, it is a lot more than hundreds of people. It is still thousands of people without power. But again, i did see stuff powered up i didnt see with power yesterday. They are making progress, doing all they can. We saw peco crews on several corners specially near the substation working but we just talked to one of the homeowners around here, and we could not talk to him live. Thats how angriest that power is still out this much after the fire with no answers either. And he says why do some neighborhoods have generators to power their homes, and streets, and why doesnt this neighborhood have anything. And he says this neighborhood isnt safe. This all happened on east line street, in pennsgrove, about 1 30 this morning when this happened. The driver loses control, crashed into the home, and then jumps out of the car, starts running. Now there were other people in that car. Four passengers inside the vehicle.
