Use the detours, spring garden, south, or 30th street. Septa says they expect to run normal rush hour on the mark frank for line. We go to steve keeley in a moment with the latest from down there. The nfsb crews will be investigating down at 69th. Youll see police presence, construction presence, not normal setup down there at 69th street. So just give yourselves extra time. We had huge signal issues last night for all of the Regional Rails on the way home. Anywhere from 30 to 60 minute delays. Folks were not happy on the ride home on the Regional Rails. Again, were going start out the morning with the board saying on time and no delays. Well see how that develops as we move through the rush hour, work crews still out along 42 and 295 over in south jersey. And then here is a live look at the 42 freeway, headlights coming in toward philadelphia. No problems up and over the bridges. No delays so far at the airport. Karen, lauren, back over to you. This morning, the ntsb now will be combing the tracks at septas 69th street terminal investigating the whole chain every events that led to that derailment yesterday morning. Four people were hurt in that accident, one of them critically. This is just the latest in a whole string every incidents for septa. Lets get to steve keeley in upper darby with the very latest. Steve . Reporter if you look right now you can see work obviously 20 hours after this crash probably going nonstop. You can see cranes on both sides. They essentially a strap underneath one of the smashed trains to lift it up. And these trains surprisingly to me, at least, are weighing 37 tons, were told by septa. 74,000 pounds, who knows, theyre very heavy, thats the bottom line. Average car ways three to 4,000 pounds. You can see it now moving tilting to the side as they try to figure out the clearest way to get these tracks all clear of the smashed trains. Looks like theyve made a lot of headway since i was here yesterday right after the crash. Still a lot of work to get done here. This is the turnaround known as the loop to septa where the trains come to the end of the line. Thats where this crash occurred. So here we go again. Work going all night. You can see they got the big construction lights here. So it looks like daylight out here, like a phillys night game. To get to the bottom of how and why this happened, the bottom line, septa and its riders want to know, once again, and whats got to be the worse stretch of breakdowns, mishaps, a strike, concentrated so close in time these past few months, can we all trust that the system is safe . Do you feel that customers may be losing fate in the authority . I certainly hope not. I think that what weve shown with some of the defects weve been able to identify, that we are inspecting our equipment, our trains, buses, everything goes through a very rigorous inch second son inspection process, every day, every month, all year long. So and it is those inspection processes that unable us to find these things. Yes, certainly it has been challenging, but i think that the riders should know that theyre getting on safe equipment. Were running safe trains. Were running safe buses. Our employees are doing a great job finding the things they need to find to keep us safe. A second man has died after a shooting in wilmington. Police were called to 22nd and market street, just before 11 00 on tuesday morning. A 23 year old man was shot in the head and died at the scene. The second man also 23 years old was shot in the chest and arm. He died last night at the hospital. No arrests have been made in that case. And police have made arrest in last weeks shooting at the willingboro vfw. Brandon washington now faces attempted murder charges. Burlington county prosecutors say he shot two guards last thursday during a ladies night event after he got kicked out for stirring up trouble. Both guards did survive. There is a 22 year old pizza Delivery Driver now facing charges after reporting fake child abduction on monday night. This is a story steve was on yesterday. Philadelphia police say Marcus Fletcher made up the story that someone stole his car with his four year old nephew inside. They say he was the victim of ahold up. He didnt like the way that police were investigating his initial report. So instead, he reported the abduction to watch them, quote, work harder. Fletch is her charged with making a false report. There was a young woman smoking outside of her Camden County home when she said a man tried to pull her into a car. It happened about 9 00 monday night, right along may apple road, gloucester township. The Woman Told Police the man got out after white suv, and start today ask her how to find his way out of the neighborhood. But then she says he grabbed her, she screamed, he let her go, and then drove off toward sicklerville road. Happening right now another search for three guys who target add man just minding his own business. If this story sounds familiar, it is. This similar type of attack has happened three times in the past month. A guy walking, not bothering anyone, gets sucker punched. This latest attack happened saturday night in center city. It was all over an iphone. As Dave Schratwieser reports, police now trying to determine if these bad guys are connected to another investigation. I was talking to my friend on my phone. And they attack me from behind. It was a brutal attack caught on video in the 200 block of south camac street in the heart of center city. The victim spoke to fox 29 by phone, tuesday night. The one punched me in my throat. And then the other guy put me a chokehold. Detective say the three suspects were roaming through center city in the hours before the vicious attack. When they randomly found this 30 year Old Center City resident with a 700dollar iphone 66s. They pounced. When you look at the video before the attack, it look like they were looking for someone to rob, you know, were up to no good. Lots of people use camac street to cut through this neighborhood, there were no less than dozen surveillance cameras on this block. The latest attack comes weeks after similar incident on south broad street. This time 25 year old walking in the 1200 block, was surrounded by four suspect, they punched him in the faiths, then kicked, stomped and pummeled him relentlessly. It could be the same guys, thats still under investigation also. Hopefully just isolated incident, and the city feels pretty safe. Just two weeks ago at 24th and lehigh, third attack, a 55 year old man was approached from behind, by three men, one punched him in the back of the head, knocking him unconscious, a witness snapped a picture of one suspect. I hear that it is happening a lot. You know, it is kind of a scary, scary thought, three very sad people that are coming into the city and doing things that they shouldnt be doing. The department of corrections says warden david piers was put on paid leave, but would not say if the decision was related to that hostage takeover of the vaughn correctional center. Inmates took had staffers hostage earlier this month. Corrections officer steven floyd died during that uprising. Delaware state police are conducting a criminal investigation into his death. The state is going to launch an independent investigation once that is complete. Bob just said after Train Derailment at the 69th street terminal yesterday, that accident leaving four people injured. Now, the ntsb trying to determine how this all happened. Steve keeley is in upper darby with the very latest. High, steve. Reporter yes, this isnt like bus ago table at the peakas restaurant here cleaning up these tracks. This is a lot of work. Here we are going on hour 21, and theyve got these big train constructiontype cranes in here that they keep moving. Thats why the team here from septa is sitting back now, as they move these in place again to put them in a position to lift these very heavy rail cars, even empty, they are weighing many, many tons, dozens every tons, were toll. So they need this heavy equipment in here, and they essentially are lifting them up and getting them off the tracks, and then, of course, the question s. Are the tracks okay . After they get finally a look at the tracks. So, if you are paying very close attention, as i always do to bob kelly yesterday morning, starting around 6 30, bob reported septa was having what it called signal issues at the time, which were causing delays on this market frankford elevated train. Thats 90 minute or so, before the crash. So, here, a hour and a half later, the train here rearend another, then sideswipes a thirds. So the obvious question for this investigation was a signal defect, the cause of this crash. The big question now for all of the daily riders is when i get on a septa train, am i go going to get off a septa train on a stretcher . I think were certainly testing the resiliency of this particular line. But what i am what gives me confidence is that as we discussed when we discovered the cracks in the bolsters, this line, this particular fleet, has a very large spare ratio. So we have a lot of leeway to have trains running and still have certain cars out of service. So i think, yes, while it certainly is a test and a challenge for us to continue to operate, i think weve shown weve been able to accomplish that with even fewer cars. Can you say that these trains are safe and that people should get on the market frankford line . Yes, the trains are safe. We will not allow a train to get on the line thats not safe. Our equipment, as i said, our employees do a great job of looking over the equipment, making sure that our equipment is safe to run every single day. And were if the going to allow a piece of equipment to get out on the line if it is not safe. Scott says this train was only going 10 miles an hour on this loop curve turn around at the end of the line. So you can see how Severe Damage get and how it is way different than your typical 10r we see every day from drivers on their phones and stop and go traffic on 95. So again, you have the perfect right to be skeptical when you look at this mess here, where all of these trains are supposed to turn around and go back up the other way when septa announces that, hey, despite whats going on here, and despite this crash, and all of this stuff, all of these tracks, everything will be normal today.
