She was an honor student there and was also a 1,000point scorer on the lady basketball team. School Officials Say akira was in orlando on a family veigh takes ka asian to celebrate graduation and visit her broth brother. The principal at the school tells me that akira was determined to succeed. Akira stands out amongst everybody. Um, but she did it quietly. She led by example. She was a quiet leader who didnt need to use her words because you recognized akira in how see serious she was in her commitment to academics and her commitment to using academics as a way to using athletics to get her to college. Patience carter was at pulse nightclub when the shooter opened fire. She was shot in the leg. Her family tells us she had surgery and is now in stable condition. Patience spoke with fox 29s Human Resource director tonight. Patience was in surgery last night until about 12 30am. Her aunt indicated that she may have been shot near her knee so i believe that it was knee surgery. I believe thats the extent of her physical injury but the emotional injuries obviously going to be deeper than that. We of course are continuing to pray for patience and all of the victims in orlando. Our Bill Anderson is live in the newsroom tonight.
