Reporter iain, as you can see workers are out here right now working theyre way down the parkway stealing up the light stanchions and the Manhole Covers with a special digital seal. Theyre checking them, then sealing them up all in preparation for the popes visit here in 11 days. Theyre also building the stage and the altar right in front of the art museum. All this is going on while philadelphias top cop is speak out tonight about a Camden County teenagers plan to mount attack on the pope. This is not something that people should be alarmed about. Reporter those words from commissioner Charles Ramsay tuesday as authorities down played the arrest of a 15yearold south jersey boy for plotting to attack the pope during his visit here next week. I was made aware by the fbi over a month ago that there was an investigation they had in south jersey. I didnt think much of it because there was no follow up conversation around it. Reporter federal authorities described the teenagers plot as aspiration al but noted the teen was allegedly inspired by isis and speaking about explosives and weapons on the internet and social media. We live in a world where between twitter and facebook and all these different platforms and so forth a lot of information comes to our attention. Reporter commissioner says police and federal authorities are closely monitoring social media and the internet for terrorist chatter as the popes visit approaches. Sources say the teen obtained information on explosives from the internet. But his plan was not operational. That doesnt mean that we dont take threats seriously. We take threats seriously. It doesnt mean they shall not investigate these things. They did and thats good thing they did because you never know. You never know. Make threats to the pope really . Its just not necessary. Its really sad and pathetic. Reporter as the stage and altar are being set on the parkway for the popes visit as preparations are in full gear, we stopped by the knotted grotto at the basilica where the popes faithful toll us theyre not worried about security. The people in charge of security have done such a wonderful job maneuvering this. I think everyone should come down. I dont think there should be any worry about security. This is a holy man. Reporter now, sources say the 15 year old was living in a tent in his parents backyard. He has been charged federally. He is also now in custody. Fortunately the 19yearold who lives on the second floor apartment had already left for the day. Only to get call his place was on fire. Tried to act all strong. I just keep thinking about it and just like, but its all stuff, you know. Reporter frank whose also a pennsville volunteer firefighter says he lost everything and has no insurance. But hes just glad no one was inside at the time. The attorneys secretary was only 10 minutes away from work when the building blue. Could have been easily been four people killed. Cummings says new jersey gas has been installing new gas lines along this stretch of road for several months. He says it appears the contractor may have hit a line. We do know the fire started in the basement with an explosion. Were wondering if maybe, you know, the Construction Company working on the gas lines might have ignited something. Were not sure. Gas Company Tells our dawn timmeney its work wig investigators to find out exactly what went wrong. The red cross is helping residents of more than 30 apartments now out of their homes because of an Early Morning fire in center city. It started around 4 30 at the gap mercy apartments at 13th and chancellor. It quickly grew and took firefighters about an hour to get things under control. Nobody was hurt. Investigators are looking what started that fire. Murder charges for a wilmington man who investigators say stabbed another man to death in the middle of the street. Wilmington police say 25yearold Calvin Hooker the third stalked a young mom and her baby as they walk near tenth street last night. Detectives say when hooker pulled a knife on her a man on a dart bus stepped in to help her. Hooker repeatedly stabbed the 27yearold and jumped on another bus. Officers eventually found hooker and used a taser to get him into handcuffs. Along with first degree murder hooker is facing charges of resisting arrest and weapon possession. We now know that someone died in this crash that tied up traffic on the schuylkill expressway during rush hour. Skyfox over the scene on east falls just before 5 00. We know two cars were involved. Two people had to be rushed to the hospital. One of those people later died. Police though notary loosing any information on the victim. Odd site in south jersey in a field. That is a u. S. Military helicopter. Smack dab in the middle of that field. It happened this afternoon along willis road in stone creek. Drivers pulled over and pulled out their phones to catch that up usual site. New Jersey State Police tell us that chopper was on a training mission. The crew had to land to make repairs that. Field well it did just fine. Crews fixed the problem. Nobody is hurt. Its just something it could have caused an injury to our pilots. It can cause injury to any pilot up in the air conducting business report. Bright green and completely wipes out your vision. Sometimes you cant even see the instruments any more. And you get disoriented. Reporter he says he completely lot of sight of the airport when it happened. The lights from laser can travel farther than a mile and can damage the eyes. The feds have investigated numerous cases this year where lasers were aimed at commercial flights near Newark Liberty airport. Oftentimes pilots are in danger of crashing. Oxlines case he thankfully stayed in control. I had my camera guy with me, and we were able to, you know, keep control of the aircraft and bring the aircraft in to a safe landing. Home security cameras capture a brazen thief stealing a package out of a mailbox at a home on the 4800 block of a street in feltonville. Watch as the guy walks by and happens to notice the package sticking out of the mailbox. He keeps going but then doubles back. Hides behind a bush before making his move. The man who lives at the home doesnt want to be identified but shows us Computer Software similar to what was stolen out of his mailbox monday afternoon. He says the mail usually arrives around 3 00 but when he checked it wasnt there. So i go check the mailbox. I dont see the item. So i come back. I check on the tracking number i see the item had been delivered. Reporter he says he then check his Surveillance Video yo and was shocked at what he saw. This is the suspect walking up the front steps into the mailbox. Two cameras capture different angles including this close up. Never see that before. Thats why its first time. Reporter its happening in other neighborhoods, too. This is video of someone stealing a package off the porch of a home in manayunk. Police say they arrested the suspect after he was identified from security cameras. The victim in this case in feltonville says he bought cameras after someone stole something from his backyard. And another person hit his car parked in front of his house and kept going. Diaz is the block captain. Few incidents have been happening around, breaking into cars and, you know, this is ge getting more out of control. Reporter the homeowner tells me the post office will usually leave packages inside the mailbox as long as its small enough to fit completely inside. In Gloucester County police are turning residents to save lives. Officials say the overdose protection act now lets doctors prescribe narcan to anyone, anyone who may be in position to help someone with overdosed on heroin or other opie united states. Narcan can reverse the effects of an overdose. Gloucester Township Police hosted the free training today. Starbucks is officially apologizing tonight to a Philadelphia Police officer who says that a worker there told him he could not use the bathroom. The officer says it happened at the starbucks on 13th and chestnut last week. He sounded off about it on facebook. It went viral. He says a woman at the counter told him the restroom was for paying customers only. So she would not give him the key code. And hopes the pontiffs message here on the last weekend in september is this. The church is open to all people. People who are in pain. People who have felt judged by the church before. Death toll reached 16 tonight after flash flooding moved through parts of utah. Pour feeble are dead and three more missing after hiking in Zion National park. First responders are trying to find another missing person after intense flood waters swept two cars downstream in a small town. Many of those who did not survive were mothers and young children. Transportation safety officials are looking into a horrific schoolbus crash in Houston Texas that left two students dead and three others hurt. My two sisters i survived Breast Cancer and shes got lymphoma so. Reporter remember do you not need a ticket to get to some of these parkway events here but without one you may be stuck blocks away watching those events from 40 jumbotrons and if youre not going many churches have watch parties you can watch the papal events on a simulcast television inside these churches for this blockbuster historic event. The news is not good for a local hospital hoping to raise money by selling 1300 bottles of fine confiscated wine. Police seized the expensive bottles two years ago of Chester County hospital wants to auction off the wine and to help sick and injured children. But a judge just said no. The hospital argued that 1935 law allows the sale of seized alcohol but the judge disagreed saying the law only lets hospitals use it for pharmacological purposes. Neighbors thought it was like any other house on the block thats until they saw flames shoot out of the roof. Turns out inside police say it was a marijuana grow house and this what investigators found inside once the fire was out. They say Rinaldo Fernandez was stealing electricity to grow the pot and thats what sparked the flames.
