They say crowder made plans to meet with the girl in pinellas county. And he met deputies instead. Hes now behind bars, facing several charges. Crowder played four seasons at tennessee. Urging governor rick scott to exonerate four men accused of raping a woman back in 1949. The men. Known as the groveland four. Have already passed away. But as foxs tracy jacim reports. Known as the groveland 4. in front of a goodsized crowd that included family members of the four men who were accused of raping a white woman in the small lake county town of groveland in 1949, groveland mayor tim loucks signed a proclamation urging they be Supreme Court overturned their convictions by an all white jury in 1951 based on a lack of physical evidence, but before retrials could happen two of the accused were shot and killed, one by the then sheriff. A third, walter irvin was also shot by the sheriff but survived a critical wound long enough to tell authorities who shot him. The fourth man was sentenced to life.
