You can see on skytower radar that big mess of rain has been slowly inching its way towards the coastline all morning long. If youre washing good day with Dave Osterberg it is showing out getting closer and closer we see individual cells that would make its way on shore. Now were getting into that time where we will start to see more and more persistent rain and embedded in that will be some heavier cells. In fact, you can see basically from clearwater down the coastline, there you see some very heavy rain. These tropical downpours individual cells are racing on to the north. Then north, northwest right now probably about 30 to 35 miles an hour. Down through the south, manate and sarasota, this is just off your coastline. Just starting to work its way up towards longboat and anna maria. Down towards venice. Some of this brushing along the coastline as you get into central Sarasota County. But kind of take that big wide view and you can see this is really, been a lopsided storm. That left hand or that western side of the storm. Theres been some drier air. Some stronger wind sheer. All strong convection is also sitting on righthand side. Problem that is exactly where we are. So its all going to work it is way over the state this afternoon into tonight. Probably not until some time late tonight or early tomorrow morning that this center of this will actually make land fall up into the big bend or the panhandle area. You look at some of the winds, these are wind gusts from out into the gulf of mexico. There you see that grabs your eyes winds gusting up to 54 miles an hour. Very close to center of storm. And even along the coastline, remember were still we will call it beginning stages of this. And the winds are sustained out of the south right now at 24 miles an hour in st. Petersburg. And were seeing some winds gusting in sarasota. Up to 32 miles an hour. And these are just going to continue to increase as these heres the latest coordinates, these are the 11 00 a. M. Coordinates, 27. 4 degrees north. 86 degrees west. Top winds riding now still at 65 miles an hour. Strong Tropical Storm in and motion is moving to north, northeast right now at 14 miles an hour. The pressure continues to fall in the system, so it looks like it will continue to strengthen. So theres that distinct possibility this could actually be a hurricane just prior to making land fall. Winds about 75 some time late this evening and then racing across georgia and up into the carolinas. Heres watches and warning you can see we Tropical Storm warning out from anclote to swau knee and a hurricane warning to mexico beach and Tropical Storm warnings over on eastern side of the state. So this is basically what we can expect as we go through this afternoon into this evening. Winds will start to turn more to starts at 1 oclock this afternoon. And then that goes until 1 oclock tomorrow. So along the coastline basically from pinellas to the south, were looking at that surge of about 1 to three feet. Obviously you got to deal with high surf, the rip currents, not a good day to even try to get out into the water. As you you work your way to north. Once you get to anclote where that Tropical Storm warning is in effect. So youre going to see Tropical Storm conditions expect to see that winds in an hour. As you get closer and closer to the center youre going to dealing with more and more of that surge. You can get an idea winds coming up from the southwest how it will pile that water up along the coastline. So 4 to eight foot surge along the coastline. Obviously youre dealing with flooding rains as well. We will talk a lot more about this and a lot more maps to show you and talk brief you on all of that coming up in a little bit. Linda, thanks jim as you just said we will have more on canaveral an explosion has rocked spacex launch site. An electrical fire at bayonetin f more than 200 people. Can you imagine . Fox 13s aaron mesmer has an update on the situation. What can you tell . Whats happening today . Royal well linda what were hearing now is this fire was actually caused by a Lightning Strike at about 6 15 yesterday evening. So right now slowly getting up and running again. But still is no back up generator. And that by law has to it be functioning in order for the hospital to start reaccepting patients. So it doesnt seem like its going to fully reopen until monday. At least thats the target at this point. Lets back up to last night. Like i said of course to bayonet spokesperson cutter, that Lightning Strike hut its main power source on roof called full power outage one generator was destroyed and generator safe switch was disabled. Brief fire on roof. And he described the situation a completely dark powerless environment. So using flashlights and cell phone lights, staff began a full evacuation beginning with Critical Care patients. It took more 70 ambulance along with three ambulance buses to transport all 209 patients to other hospitals. He says this took a massachusetts effort to pull off without any major issues. Team of really the coordination of assets and personnel and highly trained individuals. It just all came together. And it was coordinate very well. Weve heard this same praise from a couple of patients. They said staff was so well coordinated, that an amazing job getting everybody out. Doctors, nurses even some volunteer and other Staff Members were literally holding lights in one hand and working anything they possibly could with the other. And some cases they wereve their patients before they moved them out and into the ambulances and ambulance buses to be transported to other hospitals around the area. Now one thing that might have actually helped in the response was the fact that the hospital was already in an emergency coming in with Tropical Storm r hermine possibly hitting the area. So there was already an emergency generator nearby. They were able to get that here, linda. Between an hour and an hour and a half. Might have been a long are time asking with that storm bearing down in the area. Still amazing that they pulled that off and took care of all of those people. Aaron, thank you. Allstate offices are closed right now and that is the order from governor rick scott. Weather whether identifies will be open tomorrow and it depends on what happens with Tropical Storm hermine. Pinellas county residents have been concerned about this sewage spilling into streets and homes. As fox 13s Alcides Segui reports, with more rain on the way as you saw, city officials are urging residents to r go easy on the water so sue wars can keep up. Gulfport st. Pete beach and Treasure Island send sewage water into st. Petersburg. Wall the rain, their Treatment Facilities are at capacity. So the city will likely have to release some water into the bay. Hermine continues to churn through the gulf of mexico. Right now winds are at 65 miles an hour. Rain is now starting to work its way on to the coastline. In Pinellas County. Winds are picking up as well. Conditions are going to go down hill as we head through the rest of the afternoon into this evening. Ill have latest in skytower some areas are dealing with fl skyfox flew over the Mariners Cove mobile home some areas like the area youre seeing there dealing with flooding right now. Skyfox flew over the mariners Mobile Home Park in clearwater. Which is surrounded by water. And more rain is on the way. We will check back in with jim in a moment. But first Sarasota County has been has seen some minimal flooding so far. City has waste water system is to thank. But tanks are now all full. And fox 13s Kimberly Kuizon explains what respects are being asked to do now. Plants in Sarasota County. Right now its full. The county is asking people to cut back on waste water juice age. That means they are asking people to limit showers and washing dishes and clothes and anything that uses excess water. Main concern here the station and treatment falts are full. That will mean back ups for county residents. This is raw sewage thats coming into this facility. And unfortunately s withstanding water and saturated soil and excessive rainfall, that waste water systems. Thats a common issue that wate have some rain water. Yesterday, very short d experiencing this summer and in the last several days, it, it has caused the system to be at full capacity and has begun causing issues with the system in terms of being able to move that much additional water, i wouldnt normally handle. So far county has lucky and hasnt had any reported back ups. There concern once rain starts to being baup that could happen count is asking if you do have any back ups to please call them in and report them the phone number 9418615000. The county will be monitoring the situation all day long and well well bring you latest for now were in sarasota count schools in most counties are closed today because hermine we havent heard if they will closing tomorrow we will let you know as soon they find out those closing left working parent for child care for their kids. Resurrect center on cope land park on 15th street south of doors 8 oclock. Theyve had full house all afternoon. They cant wait for more kids to stop by. Reporting from tampa, jen epstein, fox 13 news. Thanks, jen. Great the city did that. Yesterdays rain didnt stop bucs from playing. But it did stop a lot of fans from seeing the game at ray jay. It was teams final preseason game against washington. The nfl and bucs moved game to last nights instead of tonight because of hermine. The bucs lost. Lost first game of regular season this sunday september lefrpt in atlanta. So jim i and i go got it tell you it looked a little miserable basically thing maybe worse tonight at 7, 8 oclock rain will be working its way in here already along coastline seeing heavy rain in Pinellas County ask working its way down to the south. You know were seeing some spin in some of the cells. So, right along the coastline, if youre in some rain, just not a good idea to maybe head outside. You want to see how heavy rain is coming down. Because you know there could an coastline and moving quickly. So you got that a really quick threat of maybe an isolated tornado in there. You dont want to really venture out in any of this. Skytower radar really showing a lot of rain out into the gulf of mexico. All sitting in on that righthand side of Tropical Storm hermine. The heavenest portion right now has working its way through Pinellas County. You can see, it is raining very heavily. Really from just to the south of palm harbor through clearwater into the Sunshine Skyway bridge. Notice how quickly these cells are just racing to the north. And probably about 30 to 35 miles an hour. And weve seen a little spins in some of these. So thats that threat you have to watch for that possibility of a quick water spout or tornado. Also down to our south, manatee and sarasota. Brushing right along the coastline. This entire mess will continue to nudge a bit further to the east as we head through the center here works its way to the north. Heading up into the big bend area. You can see all wet weather sitting on that righthand side. We always talk about the righthand side of the storm. Thats typically the stronger side of the storm. Exactly what youre seeing. All the weather, stronger winds, just because you got at that counterclockwise flow in that dryer air on that other side of the storm. Really, has kept the convection to a minimum on that side of the water vapor loop shows that drier air kind the backside of the storm. Its been staying away from the center so it looks like it will continue to strengthen at this point. Look at some of the winds, along the coastline, these have really come up really the past ten, 15 minutes with some of the squalls working their way through. Winds gusting up to 30 miles an hour in st. Petersburg. 26 in clearwater. You head down to sarasota. Winds gusting up to 32. Same down in venice. And sustained winds over 20 only going to get worse. As we go through the afternoon. Here latest coordinates 27. Fou north. 86 degree west. Top winds 65 miles an hour moving to north, northeast 14 miles an hour latest recon measured the pressure at 991. And it continues to fall at this point. So theres that forecast track in there still that distinct possibility that this could become a hurricane prior to making land fall. And remember on that righthand side winds coming up from t south and southwest, thats where you have that threat of the storm surge. Really from anywhere from anclote on to the north. You can see much larger storm surge. Tropical storm warning anclote to Suwannee River back to mexico beach. So this is what we expect to see as we go through afternoon into tonight. A Coastal Flood Advisory out for our coastline. That goes until 1 oclock tomorrow. Storm surge between 1 to three feet from pinellas down to the south. Got Tropical Storm warning. Winds in excess of 39 miles an hour. Even stronger as you head even up towards suwannee and points north. Storm surge between 4 to 8 feet. Obviously you got to deal with all flooding rains as well. You can see the worst of this will be up into the big bend. Heading up into the apalachicola bay where we can see that storm surge in excess of 8 to 10 feet in some locations. Look probably big edge concern will actually be through the overnight hours and into tomorrow morning. Oh so take note of those high tides. Thats when this wind is coming out of the southwest. You have that threat once again of that storm surge. Rainfall amounts 5 to 10 inches along the coastline. If youre in interior, were not forgetting about you, its just youre not going to be dealing with this as bad, youre looking a two to four inches rain head down to hardee, de soto and inches of rain and just breezy conditions. The worst conditions obviously are near the coastline in and awe get closer to a center increasing squalls and daytime high of 82. Then for tonight, continuing to rain. Continues windy. And overnight low of 77. For tomorrow, were going to continue with the rain. At least through Morning Hours in that High Temperature about 83 degrees. Small craft advisories out winds out south 30 to 45 knots. Dont go on water high heres your sevenday forecast, rain chances stay high into the first part of the weekend. By labor bay get back to typical showers and thunderstorms during afternoon hours. Much more to talk about that in few minutes. Thank you, jim pursuit of a robbery suspect stretched from tampa to st. Well, meteorologist jim weber has been keeping a close eye on band of showers is starting to move across our coastal counties and cities. And twitter jim im seeing some flooding started already. Yeah. I would not doubt it because remember how much rain we saw in opinions county yesterday. Upwards of 9 inches of rain along the immediate coastline. So theres no where for this water to go a this point. Any additional rain is going to cause flooding and going to tend to cause a flooding pretty quickly. Now as you look at that wide view on skytower radar, you can the gulf and that heavy band embedded in that. Which is working its way over opinions county down into manatee and sarasota as well. Along the Sunshine Skyway bridge as well. You can see, the heaviest portion of this right now, basically cutting right up 275 in central and southern Pinellas County. And then cutting over towards clearwater. If youre up in northern Pinellas County over towards palm harbor up in tarpon your way in next few minutes. And also, we noted a lot of little spins in this in these individual cells as well. So theres that potential that we could see either quick water spout near coastline or a tornado. So this is not kind of weather you want to go venturing out in you can get a tornado forming in this very quickly in the cells are moving extremely fast. So they could move on top of you with very, very little notice. Now anywhere you see that shade, thats excess of 2 inches per hour rainfall rates. So that basically coming down just about as hard as it can. These are heavy, heavy tropical downpours. Down the coastline, into sarasota, into manatee county, near bradenton, out along the coastline inside cells seeing winds gusting over 30 miles an hour as well. So conditions, they are just going to continue to do down hill as we go through a. Noon and evening. You can see very lopsided stopper. The hurricane htes currently flying in the system. Level winds between about 60 to 75 miles an hour. So the system certainly looks like it continues to increase in strength. Wind gusts from buoys out into the gulf of mexico. Currently gusting up to 49 miles an hour. Along the coastline, you can see gusting up to 26 in clearwater. Down in sarasota, venice winds are currently miles an hour. More on the location, the track, the storm surge and high tides. Were talking about that in just a few minutes, linda. All right thanks, jim.
