One of the first videos we received was this one from Broward College where students rushed out of class to find cars thrown from their parking spots. One was on top of another. This is one of three or four areas where that tornado touched down at. It started here, but ripped trees, tree branches down, then hopped up onlo the highway it takes power to move cars and trucks and destroy trees. The tornado that blew through Broward College north campus today was one students didnt want to mess with. When the trucks and cars started flipping over, theyd seen and heard enough. Almost like a soda can being crunched maybe. Its just something you normally dont hear on campus. Reporter it looks like thestorm blew right through the parking lot then a campus field then up over onto thehe highway. It only lasted a matter of moments. Luckily no one was hurt. Theres no clear swath of destruction. It looks like that twister bounced over Coconut Creek parkway to this retirement facility behind me. Theres a little destruction to some buildings. This awning took a beating. Oncc it hit these trees, it made the wicked weather this w y comes on the turnpike. The weather took aim at other motorists as well. We had a pickup truck roll over. It was also near that tractortrailer. A tractortrailer, the driver says the winds just picked up the hood and ripped it right off. Reporter its evidence of the winds fury and power. Oveve here, we have a vehicle that was southbound on the turn spike pike and the winds picked that up landing it in the northbound lanes. Reporter the car totalled and facing southbound on the northbound lanes. Virtually no damage to the roof of the car would lead one to believe the car landed on its blown out tires. Five air bags deployed. The driver suffered only minor injuries. Brunt of this tornado. Sections of the roof sheared off to the apartment. Screens flung to who knows where. Trees ripped from their roots. Landscaping turned into disaster. The canopy sheared apart in places. Caution tape blocks off the area keepingesidents out. Shuffleboard, anyone .
