Two people were killed, at least another wounded. Emergency vehicles remain near the embassy at this time. The u. S. Ambassador to turkey says a guard at the embassy gate was killed in addition to the bomber. The explosion did not appear to do damage inside the embassy. The compound is located in the same neighborhood as the french, german and several other embassies. Also breaking this morning out of new york, where former new york mayor ed koch has died from congestive heart failure. He had been in intensive care since wednesday, suffering from fluid in his lungs and legs. Koch served as mayor for three terms from 1978 through 1989. He is credited with saving the city from financial ruin. Ed koch was 88 years old. Checking our other top stories, former Culpeper Police officer heads back to court this morning, where a judge will decide whether to declare a mistrial in his case. Daniel Harmon Wright was convicted earlier this week of killing an unarmed woman last year. His attorneys claim the jurors used a dictionary to help them define the word malice. They say that shows the jurors were confused about instructions given to them. The hostage situation in alabama enters its fourth day now. A man has been holding a 5year old boy since tuesday afternoon. Neighbors identify the captor as 65yearold jimmy lee dykes. Police say he and the boy are in an underground bunker equipped with a tv and electricity. The boys mother says the child has aspergers syndrome and hdhd. Police are getting medicine to the boy through a pipe. Metro issues a public apology for wednesday evenings gridlock on the green line. Thousands were stranded. The agency says there were problems with a piece of equipment and a human error when crews tried to fix it. The power outage was the result of an emergency button being hit. Metro apologized to customers for having to wait so long for the problem to be fixed. What time is it game time what time is it game time. Almost is. Thats right. This one, its kind of a parody of different movies genres in a way. What theyre trying to do is create content that takes you online. Its trying to engage the audience. They did that last year with the polar bears and was successful. At the end of this, you decide, the audience decides who they want to win. Later in the game well see the winner . Yeah, at the end of the game they show the winner. And when you get online, they create a content where you can sabotage the racers. Theyve made it more engaging online than just watching the video. Very interesting. Interactive. Doritos, theyre also going interactive, in that they had a contest. I think they did this before, where amateurs can submit. Absolutely. Doritos does the crashing the super bowl. They have users submit great stories. This year they put out five videos in the pregame. And youll get to decide which ones get to be in the super bowl and youll get to vote. Lets look at one of the amateur created ads. Can you play with me . Sweetheart, id love to. Id like to share a little bit of whats going on with my family offscreen with you, my tv family. Thats what i consider you to be. It is for everybody out there who has enjoyed the special love of a grandparent, especially a grandmother. This week the world lost a phenomenal woman. Chances are you dont know her. She never made the news or Winning National or global award. Never wrote legislation, never ran a city nor a company. What she did do and well is serve as the leader of my family. I lost my grandmother this week. I enjoyed years of her love and attention. We were close. I spent every summer with my grandparents and their beloved home city of charleston ton, south carolina. Those were simple and wonderful days. Through the years our families grew and our lives got busier, but our bond remained strong. As i navigated my adult life and my own family, i always relied on grannys advice, her humor, and take on things. Shes making me laugh in this picture, when im pregnant with sidney. She came from a time where ladies wore gloves and hats to church. Always had finger foods at the ready when company came. And made sure the family all sat down and ate that good low country food with that sweet iced tea together. She liked high heels and dancing the jitter bug with my grandfather. Tradition, style, etiquette, pose, being a lady, i all learned from her. Though she looked like a delicate flower, at under 5 feet tall, she was tough and independent. She reinvented herself when my granddad died. She always worked, but learned to drive in her 60s. Maintained her big yard by herself well into her 70s and lived alone until her mid80s. I am so grateful that she saw my girls be born and grow. While ill never know why fate robbed some of our loved ones of their memories, i know that if you are lucky, you have a lifetime full of good times to keep you company in those darker days. The tear in my heart created by her passing on tuesday might never close, but i will use the lessons and the love that she gave me to patch it up just a little bit. But i will miss her sweetness and her style every day. Granny, i know that you are proud of me and i hope i told you at least once that i am proud of you, too. Rest well. [ le wh heres a better idea.
