weekend forecast in just a minute. tony, back to you. >> we shouldn't say -- we have breaking news. a bomb threat called into annandale high school. you can see the robot searching the building. right now school is closed while the investigation continues. we'll bring more details as we get them into the newsroom. making headlines this morning, some members of a fairfax county gang are behind bars. >> they are accused of running an alleged prostitution ring. five leaders of the underground crips gang have been arrested. investigators believe the men recruited high school girls as young as 16 via social media web sites. >> more vigilance than 10 years ago, and more vigilance than 20 years ago is necessary on the part of parents to keep their children safe, to keep your daughters out of the grips of people like these members. >> officials say 11 gang members have been arrested since 2011 for underage sex trafficking. police making head way into a cold case involving two murdered virginia tech students. investigators now know a 30 caliber rifle was used to kill them. a passer byfound their bodies in the jefferson national forest in august of 2009. they have developed dna evidence in the case and have been collecting dna samples from residents and people who frequent that area. it's possible trayvon martin case will not go to a grand jury. that's the word from the special prosecutor who was appointed by the governor of florida this week. governor rick scott assigned the state attorney to investigate last month's shooting, but she says she might just arrest zimmerman without presenting evidence to the grand jury. rick scott says when the investigation is over, he'll reexamine some of the state laws, including the so-called stand your ground law. the governor says he'll determine if anything needs to be changed. >> this vigilante justice makes no sense. nobody wants to be subject to that vigilante justice. we have a process to make sure justice prevails. it has to be fair to the martin family, fair to zimmerman. >> meanwhile, zimmerman's brother is speaking out, saying zimmerman was defending himself and tells piers morgan trayvon tried to take his gun away from him. >> he prevented his firearm from being taken from him and used against him. and that's called saving your life. >> you believe as a family, this is what george told you the next day, that trayvon was trying to grab his gun to use against him? >> my father also is on record yesterday night saying, and again what trayvon said, was either to the effect of, i believe, this is going to be easy, you die tonight or you have a peace, you die tonight, and attempted to disarm him. >> finally, spike lee is settling after retweeting the wrong address of the man who killed martin. he reached a settlement with the elderly couple after they had to leave their florida home. later today the nine justices of the supreme court will hold a preliminary vote. it follows this week's challenge to the health care law. we won't find out the results for months. the vote is to see where the justices stand on the issue. the district of columbia is handing out its first licenses to grow medical marijuana today. once harvested it will be sent to five distribution centers. a store called we grow is opening today on rhode island avenue. it will only sell supplies for indoor growing. the first sales of medical marijuana could begin in august. people across the world are being encouraged to turn out the lights tomorrow night, to raise awareness of environmental sustainability issues. the national cathedral and national museum in baltimore plan to participate. it starts saturday at 8:30 in the evening. the world wildlife fund, which is organizing the event, says people in 135 countries participated last year. our big story this morning is mega millions mania. people across the nation getting into the lottery spirit, hoping to become an instant millionaire. >> you could win $540 million in tonight's drawing. that is the biggest in u.s. lottery history. fox5's sherri ly is live at the tenley town market in northwest, where people are buying tickets ahead of the big drawing. hey, sherri. >> reporter: the crowd gets bigger and dies down, and it will go on throughout the day. from talking to people here, everyone seems to have their own method for buying the so- called winning ticket. i've talked to some people who are buying at several different locations, thinking they'll spread their luck around. other people have their lucky numbers, birthdays and anniversaries. $540millionin this jackpot that is up for grabs. everyone is really dreaming of hitting it big. the jackpot climbed to a record high after no one won tuesday. the $540 million is the biggest ever and people are lining up in 42 states and the district, including maryland and virginia, to get in on the action. the odds aren't great. those playing are still hoping to strike it rich. >> i might be that one. you can't really think about it. even though you know it's 540 and everybody is playing around the united states, i'm still going to be optimistic. >> my mom send me an e-mail this morning, are you going to play? i don't lose anything by doing it, right? >> i just tried my luck this morning. this is my lucky day. >> reporter: i think a lot of people think it's their lucky day. but the odds are 176 million to 1 of winning the jackpot. according to forbes, there's a 97% chance you'll have to share the jackpot with more than one winner. statistics favor between two and nine winners. fewer people buy higher numbers, 32 through 56. that's because many are picking the low numbers, 1 through 31 for birthdays or anniversaries. the lump sum payout after taxes is expected to be $293 million. that's after uncle sam has already taken a cut. i think i could deal with that. one thing that's interesting, not everybody is getting in on the mega millions fever. talking to my photographer here, dave, and i said, aren't you going to buy it? it's just a dollar. he said, nope, i don't believe in that. can you believe it? >> no. you got to play. >> some people don't believe in it. >> reporter: you have to play to win. >> i have refrained from asking you this, doesn't seem like there's a lot of people behind you. can you buy me a ticket? "nocturnal agony" is inspired by a true story and promises to take you on a spiritual journey. joining us to talk more about the film is actor lawrence hilton-jacobs. thrilled to have you here. thanks for coming in. >> yeah. >> i was going to ask you, tell me about the movie. i pretty much said most of it right there. but, fill us in on a little bit. the fact this is based on a true story. >> based on a true story. the director and writer adapted it into the movie version. you embellish on that and take it a little bit further. that's the crux of it. >> tell me about your role. you play theodore, that is right? >> i almost laugh, because this is the second time this year i'm playing a molester. a child molester. >> oh, wow. >> my new career. the mother is going through her personal changes and involved with me and i'm the boyfriend. in the past i had gotten involved with her kid, which is probably some of the effects of why her daughter is going down. i'm not the nice guy. >> not the nice guy. when you play a role like that, you say it's the second time you've done that in a short period of time, does that -- that's a heavy thing. is it hard to get into that kind of mindset? >> no, not at all. >> why do you say that? >> because you focus on it as a job and you do the work. the young lady i did the scenes with in this movie, the lead lady in the movie, it's her daughter. and we became friends. i was tickling her in between the scenes and laughing. we never took it serious. my belief is you don't need to show all that graphic involvement. because it's horrendous enough. it's more impression, you know. >> we mentioned in the intro it's a spiritual journey that the viewer may be taken on. there's a lot about faith in this movie from what i understand, that is correct? >> that's right. >> tell me, we see a lot of movies, particularly in the black cinema, that are faith based, or very much about an individual's faith, a family's faith, faith in our culture. why is that such a significant thing? >> because it's part of our lives. in my personal estimation we need it. we need the foundation that we're on solidng to come from. it's the bible. it's the good book. that's a solid, long piece of rock that's been around for all of our lives and beyond. it gives us a point of view we can at least relate from or springboard from that has legacy to it. so that's important. we, in our own ways, we always pray. >> we talk about the faith part, and there is actual, there's a big screening tonight, that's a private event. there's a gospel event tomorrow night the public can take part in. >> they're putting a big gospel concert tomorrow, and some of the people in the film who are involved in the music are scheduled to make appearances. it's just to get the word out there to let them be aware and share and let them have good times and maybe, you know, get a little bit extra out of it. >> there's the information. earlier this morning when we were promoting your appearance, we mentioned "welcome back kotter." >> i've never heard of those things. >> one of the reasons that i think you get such a warm reaction from people is because those roles were so iconic, they're so long ago now. do you get sick of hearing about it? >> it's funny. i have a couple of granddaughters that, can you believe that? >> that right there is shocking. >> i'm 58, so it's the truth. they're my agents. if i'm out with them, i went to pick them up from school the other day, and carol and christine, and i go by, and they don't say this is papa, this is papa, but this is joe jackson. it's funny. i don't know if you get tired of it. it's part of the life. what am i going to do about it? now, in every box of general mills big g cereal, there's more whole grain than any other ingredient. that's why it's listed first on the side. from honey nut cheerios to cinnamon toast crunch to lucky charms, get more whole grain than any other ingredient... without question. just look for the white check. ♪ tell me something good ♪ all right. it's friday morning, it's time for ask allison. today's question is about a relationship that's taken a wrong turn. a viewer writes -- >> thank you for writing in. you're not very strange. i want to give a little more background. the e-mail was very long. the background tells me what he has told me is he and his girlfriend have been together for 12 years. they don't have kids. they're both under 40, so this relationship started when they were young. they have not enjoyed an intimate relationship for the last two years or so. this is a very touchy subject indeed. i thank you for asking for my opinion of this situation. you already know this, but the nature of your relationship has definitely changed. you did allude to that in your e-mail. it didn't change in your favor, my friend. you have invested more than a decade of your life. change can be scary, plus, you're in love. i can tell that from the e- mail. but you are not getting what you deserve. that is not fair to you. i would have a serious heart to heart with your girlfriend and express your concerns. i'm talking about take the gloves off, tell me whatever you need to tell me, because i know something has definitely changed. i can feel it. i know it's changed. you need to talk in that sort of tone to try to get to the bottom of it. because right now you're living like roommates and that's not what you want. it's not fair to you. you say she looks to be pampered and reassured. that's fine, that's what couples do. but not if that's all she does or looks for in you. are you getting pampered? have you been reassured? love is a give and take. it's a 50/50 deal. it's not a one way street. you've heard that. i could say get out of it, because that's what a part of me says. but i know it's not that easy. plus, you've invested a lot of time, and i wouldn't be that crass about it. a conversation might reveal she looks to you more as a best friend, and you could stop wasting more of your time. it's not unreasonable that you desire a loving relationship and not unreasonable to think something has changed. you need to find out what that is, and find out if your relationship can be salvaged. i know you want that to happen. good luck to you. right now, tony, it's unfair. he knows something is wrong. almost, though, i can imagine he doesn't want to ask, because you don't want to know all the answers. >> having those discussions, those are the hardest kinds to have, the ones that are really important. i would add one thing, you maybe said it in the middle there, they might want to seek counseling, because it can be hard to have those conversations and sometimes a therapist can help you with that. >> that's a great point, that i did not mention. i love that. bring it out in a safe setting. whatever is the problem. good luck to you. send me a follow-up and let me know how it works out. do you have a question you'd like answered? >> i work at a nonprofit organization with people with disability. been working there a little over a year now. we're always lack of money. been needing donations and everything, that's why i started off this competition. >> and now, of course, i'm sure with just appearances you're going to, you know, help make your organization just more high profile, because everybody knows your name. >> you know, we've been getting lots and lots of donation, actually like we got four years' worth of donations just like that. >> wow. >> it's been an awesome journey and i'm happy the fact i helped them. >> are you going to continue to sing? >> well, maybe there's a show called "dancing with the stars." this is one of the reasons, carrie ann inaba here with me, along with ken richards, the vice president of u.s.a. dancesport. and they both join me. exciting for you to be a part of this. not only are you one of the faces of ball room and latin dancing now, but you're part of the star quality here. you're the first celebrity ambassador. >> i am honored to be the first celebrity ambassador. we're encouraging more people to get involved. it's gotten more popular, but we want it to grow even more. >> reporter: what's interesting, years ago there was a movie "shall we dance,." >> yeah. >> reporter: it was so great. this has been around for a while. why do you think it took a real show to really make it just explode? >> you know, tv reaches so many people. this has been going on since time has begun, basically. now people are coming out, and we hope people will come out today, it's a little different than on "dancing with the stars." >> reporter: the other fun thing about this, for a while there was this separation between reality tv and then those doing it seriously. and now, you've come together, and are all on the same mission. that has to be great for the sport. >> absolutely. with respect to carrie ann and the star quality awards we've been doing three years, a few years ago she presented it to one of the pros on the show. >> he won one of the first star quality dance awards i gave out and now he's on "dancing with the stars." >> reporter: he is one of the -- >> one of the pros. with sherry shepherd. it's nice the award leads them towards something. very nice. >> reporter: since we're talking about star quality, obviously you have to have the technique, but you have to have that something-something. which is more important? >> you have to have a good balance. you may have so much star quality that we may not notice your mistakes. if you don't have the technique, we can't notice the star quality. they go hand in hand. what attracts me first is their star quality, their presence. i think that's what makes people unique. >> they first start with the foundation. that gives them the two legs to stand on. >> reporter: that's why it goes hand in hand. >> we just dropped the star award. live tv, people. >> reporter: this shows the durability of the award. >> everlasting. >> like the time pieces, these beautiful time pieces. has two people dancing on it. the wonderful. >> reporter: we've talked about the dancers. but this is a fun spectator sport. people realize that now, because the viewership on tv, "dancing with the stars" in its 14th season. the first time i went to one of these events i didn't understand you were supposed to yell out. tell people how to be a good spectator. >> when you come down at the renaissance harborplace, yell out the number of the people that you want to win. makes the judges go, am i missing something? >> i was in a group called commissions 22 years ago, and the first concert i did as a professional artist was here in d.c. at the church when it was on rhode island avenue. >> okay. >> i've had 22 years of relationship with the church. >> sentimental. we're glad you're here. the performance is one night only. >> all day saturday. >> like four shows. >> three shows. >> okay. >> get your tickets. i'll be there. >> with that big venue, i don't think -- >> they sell out. >> i'm not surprised about that either. >> make sure you get them now. >> want to talk to you a little bit about, you know, just you and your faith and you're on the radio and a whole bunch of garbage is on the radio -- >> i'm doing good. i've been good. >> right. >> my music somehow cuts through. it's been a blessing i get the opportunity to get my message across not only on gospel radio, but radio across the board. >> seems to me because you incorporate a younger, you're a young man, but -- >> you're so kind. >> the hip-hop or the different beats that a younger person would latch onto. before you know it, they're singing something positive. >> i try to keep it jesus with funky. it works for me. people, they really love what i do from the ages of 2 to 92. it's been a great ride for me. >> before i let you go, your challenges, tragedies have been well documented and we are all heart broke each and every time. what's the message for those out there that are hurting, as you stand here today, a winner with "i win" to come out next week. >> being a winner is a mentality before it's a destination. my life has been rough and traumatic. i buried my wife 20 months ago, who had a major challenge with colon cancer. it's been rough. i got three kids, 18, 15 and 13. being a single dad for the first time in my life is something that's definitely different. but you know, i learned that i'm cut for this. i'm made for it. and the key thing is, we just got to keep it moving in spite of whatever happens in your life. >> it's "i win," and you're doing something off of this?
