Police were initially calling this a hit and run. We know that that boy was taken to the hospital. Were unfortunately he has been unpro pronounced dead. Solemn here as you speak to the officers. They say a few minutes after the accident the driver actually contacted police h himself. He is now being interviewed by police and also told the young boys parents have been here talking to police as well. Weve been asking exactly what may have led to this. Was the boy walking a cross the street with his parents. What the scenario was. It is all under investigation right now. We have not gotten answers there. I can tell you the street sort of lines up next to apartment complex on one side and on the other side is wooded area with a bit of clearing. Theres a picnic table and i hav seen officers back and forthwith flashlights look around this wooded area as well. And of course, well continue to follow this. But, again, right now what i can tell you is this was initially put out as a hit and run, we do know that the driver contacted police himself and is now somewhere in this area being questioned by detectives. Prince George Country Police Officer tonight is facing jail time. Officer one hernandez was convicted today of hitting a suspect trying to get away with his Police Cruiser. You can see it there. Wow. The incident happened last summer in hyattsville when hernandez and another officer responded a call a fight with armed suspect. 22yearold and hernandez followed him in his car. Was upset when i saw the incar camera footage this event and i fully expect my community to be upset when you see the incar camera footage of the event.
