Reporter shawn, Prince Georges County schools made that announcement pretty late tonight, somewhere around 7. 30 they made the aanionsment that they were indeed shutting down the school because there were too am people who requested time off for tomorrows strike, a day without a objection to the form at this point they really feel as though that was their only choice. Kevin maxwell, the chief executive officer for Prince Georges County says approximately 1700 teachers and 30s p of the transportation staff are going to be out requested leave. They will be off tomorrow. And that they specifically saw a spike in they think perhaps that was some sort of a domino effect from seeing the other schools that had to shutdown because so many teachers and staffers called out as well. The reasoning behind the closer in a statement here saying a high number of schoolbased and support staff have requested leave for tomorrow which would compromise our ability to transport students and provide safe, productive learning environment. As a result, schools be closed wednesday, march 8 for students. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Please note that our leave request significantly increased today leading to this decision. Now, we talked with School Board Member Kay Alexander wallace about his opinion on this decision and the late note is. But as a person, as a prince georgian as a proud feminist i understand the call of the organizations m that statement to be heard and to the employees that requested personal leave off from Prince Georges County Public Schools your message was heard loud and clear to at least this board member. Now a lot of people have been asking the question as to why such a late notice . How many people can really be allow to take that day off in i was talking with mr. Wallace and he says the School District cannot deny some personnel leave some personal leave no matter when the request comes in. That is his understanding at this point. We also talked with a few parents this evening at the Prince Georges County sports and learning complex here behind me to get their take on with what is going on tomorrow and School Closing down. We now turn to a fox5 exclusive, a watch dog group blames mure Muriel Bowser accepted Illegal Campaign contributions during her 2014 campaign. Tonight, fox5 Marina Maracco asked the complaint about the watch dog group filed. Marina is live with the mayor. Reporter that Government Watch dog group Public Citizens, the minute the formal complaint here today at the d. C. Office of Campaign Finance and in that complaint Public Citizen alleges that more than 22 contributions were made over the legal limit of 2,000 each totaling more than 30,000 in what appear to be illegal contributions. Now, among those contributions is one from stand ford capital, a company sued pepete office of the attorney general after failing to obey the number of housing violations at its numerous Properties Across the district. Tonight we caught up with a representative from Public Citizen and spoke with the mayor herself. How does that type of oversight happen . Itsea the office of Campaign Finance and the treasurer for every campaign to make sure this doesnt happen, to refund excess contributions and refunds did happen in that election which is why this is all the more concerning. Because its been three years and theres still all these cliques that were made over the legal amount . Correct. Once the stand ford capital excess contribution or apparently illegal contribution was made there should have been an immediate apology from the mayor, that funding should have been returned. This is video of the officers walking the man out of the theater at the mall. Were told it all started when officers spotted the man breaking into a car and then a house. He drove off, police tried to stop him but then they say he ran into a empty theft tore and hid up in ceiling. Prince georges county police are still looking for a gunman responsible for a deadly shooting today in suitland. It happened on southern avenue. Two days after a Security Guard was murdered at potomac millions mall, the suspect is behind bars. Police arrested Jamal Kingsbury in d. C. This afternoon.
