Today mr. Trumps own tweet seemed to contra disik all of that. He tweeted as president i wanted to share with russia, which i have the right to do. And technically from what i understand he absolutely has the right to do that. The question is, was it a great idea. Thats the bigger question a lot of people are asking. We had hr mcmaster coming out that denied any information exchanged hands the National Security advisor said today, the information that the president shared was appropriate and not damaging in any way. What we dont do is discuss what is and what wasnt classified. What i will tell you is that in the context of that discussion, what the president discussed with the foreign minister was wholly appropriate with conversation and is consistent with the routine sharing between the president and any leaders with whom hes engaged. The question is, we of course are going to continue to askas thing to do . Lawmakers on capital hill are no doubt sounding off on this. Nancy pelosi called the sharing of information pathetic. What the president did was totally outrageous. If it was unit withing, that would be pathetic and dangerous. If it was intentional i dont know whats worse. Clearly the president didnt do anything illegal, but my advice to the president would be, if youre going to talk to the russians about anything sensitive, run it through the system first. We can go back and forth about what was appropriate, what was inappropriate, but we want to bring in anal lies scott wilson how are you this evening. Good. There was so much talk yesterday about whether the president did the right thing and from all appearances it seems that the principal is fine. Sure. I mean on principal its fine as you alluded its respect to what information he shares and with whom he shares that information. Youre he going to get a lot of different opinions as to with its appropriate, whether its the right thing to do at the right time, with whom he was hazer it or the right people. This issue like a lot of issues involving the president , when you look at the people who are most vocal in their opposition, ill grant it theres opposition or criticism from both sides, you have to ask yourself, is it really the act that is upsetting these folks . Or is this another sort of attempt to try and create the sense that everything the president does is some threat to our democracy. Let me ask you that because thats a good question here, a fair question here. Were talking about could one who is not experienced as a politician is this just a flub, though. Then you have folks on the other hand, even john mccain came out and said this could be damaging to our willingness to share this information because weve since learned that this information came from israel, who is one of our allies. Those are legitimate concerns. Senator mccain has also been vocally against the president. Is it flowery rhetoric or is a lot of it rooted in general concern in i think theres a little bit of both there to be perfectly honest. Do i think theyre over blowing the case, what the president did could engage in information sharing relationships with our allies, perhaps over blowing it a little bit, of course time will tell on what information the president shared with the russian counterparts. But israel came out and declared quite so figures justly that they continue to maintain the United States in high regards. Does it appear at least on the surface caused any sort of longterm damage with israel. I understand that a lot of what is said to the public may be different than what is shared behind the scenes. But we have to take israel at its face value in terms of what it said and assume that our relationship with them at the very least maintains a very strong one. I cant think you deny and shawn eluded to this, when you have the conflicting messages that come out from hr mcmaster versus last night what the president tweeted today, not everyone in the loop, not counting the people who are getting the message out from the white house dont seem to be on the same page. I think that is what comes off as disingenious to some people. I think the president calls it like he sees it. He reported it to the American People as he observed it occurring when he engaged in that conversation last week. I think some of his advisors and Communications Team are probably trying to be a little l more nuanced with their messaging and sometimes that comes across as a conflict and that could lead some people to speculate and to cast, have questions about the veracity of what one side is saying over the other. A maryland congressman is now asking a question that some people have said before, is President Trump unfit for office . This is from the congress mannings office. This is a bill that the congressman introduced that would assess the Mental Health of a partnership. This seems odd, but this is rooted in some sort of fact here. Well, you know, jamie razz kin says hes heard a lot of jokes about the mental state of the president of the United States, but he is very clear about this. He says this is no joke and he says he has the United States constitution to back him up in this. Heres why, the 25th amendment of the United States constitution deals with president ial succession and that is what congressman razz kin is looking at here, how this would work is that if passed, razz kins bill would enable congress to create bipartisan independent panel which would then examine the president and report back on his physical and mental capability to continue in office. That independent Bipartisan Commission would then report back to congress, both the house and senate would vote on their findings and if they do find that a president , any president is not capable to serve the remainder of their term, well, then, the vicepresident would become act aing president. Now, theres some reality we need to inject into all of this. Look, there are 20 democrats. Thats it. Who have joined onto this proposal from a liberal Maryland Democratic congressman. The republicans control both houses up here arrested on an outstanding capital hill. That means theres little to no chance that is going to come up for a vote. Congressman razz kin says i know that, i understand the lay of the lapped here. But he says if the country does itself in what he calls a constitutional crisis, he says at least this way there is legislation in place that could be acted upon to envoke h this section 4 of the 25th amendment a concern he says that has grown in recent days and especially in light of the firing of the fbi director, the numerous tweet storms that the president has put out and now this controversy and fire storm over the potential leaking of classified information to the russians.
