Asking for the hiring of more officers. He says the hiring will come from the budget that has nearly 300,000. When you factor in family medical leave, military leave, vacations, training, sick time, we never can fully staff a platoon out here on patrol. Mark the chief is also asking to hire a second animal control officer after they had to cut the operation down to one officer during the recession. Reporter police got to a motorcycle accident around 8 00 tonight on lakeside drive. One person was involved and was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Lynchburg police are investigating the details. Stay with us for updates. Tonight an abc13 news exclusive. By a Hospital Security guard para. He says he has new documents about the case and theyre troubling. Maeries is a live in the studio with more. Reporter mark, these documents are the one and only documents that jonathan warners attorney received from centra. 3,000 pages of warners medical records. These are from january 11th, the day that warner was shot at centra. The Attorney Says that he reviewed all of the records. Jonathan warner was shot four times just before 5 00 a. M. At lynchburg general hospital. In the weeks following his attorney said he sought to answer several questions. He has a bull et in his spine, but the question was which direction did it come from. Reporter he says the answer Security Guard was acting in selfdefense or not. He says he now has the answer. The records he obtained in centra said that jonathan received a gunshot wound to the back. And he says another key piece of evidence was Surveillance Video of the shooting provided by the commonwealths attorney. The video corroborates an eyewitness account that jonathan was shot in the back while he was down on his knees trying to crawl to an exit to get away. Reporter police are not commenting on the contents. The lawyer says he could see tensions in the video between Security Guard Wes Gillespie and warner. Runs to the nurses station. Reporter he claims that warner then fumbled around with a taser when an unidentified male employee trice unsuccessfully to tackle him. He then runs to a room with warner behind him. Warner strikes him with the discharged taser and runs into a room. It was then that gillespie who was standing 1015 feet away fires shots at jonathan. Hes crawling towards the exit door, and it appears that another fourth shot was fired by officer gillespie. Reporter this fourth shot is where the lawyer says he takes issue. It means that an injustice has occurred. I think anybody would question why such a legal force was applied. Reporter lynchburg official report regarding the video. Reporter the Attorney Says that he doesnt know yet whether it was that fourth shot that left warner paralyzed and he hasnt filed any legal action. Once again we have not seen the video. But well continue to request its release. Lynchburg police say they are not making any comments at this time. Mark thanks. Soldiers in lynchburgs National Guard battalion got called to active duty overseas. Soldiers from the First Battalion are prepping for what will likely be a 9month deployment. They are known as the Task Force Red dragon. The soldiers wont be going into what is considered an active combat zone. All of them are combat trained to face any situation. Lynchburg cut 200 jobs. The Company Announced their restructuring and terminating their jobs in insurance and annuity details. Genworth says it regrets the impact the layoff has on its employees and families.
