Marshals, and other federal investigators have been searched for floyd ray cook. Hes accuse of shooting at police twice, and a trooper in kentucky and an officer in tennessee. Overnight officers tried to stop a car they believe had cook inside. Police say the driver tried to hit the officer. He backed up and rammed the officers vehicle. The officer then returned fire at the vehicle in selfdefense. Tennessee Highway Patrol originally said the suspects fired at the officers. U. S. Marshals chased the car which crashed. Its a garden variety. What complicated things is the axle actually broke. Floor cracked and separated from the cab of the truck and that made it very difficult to load the rig up onto a wrecker and haul it out of here. s been here all night long. They actually had to bring some crews in with big saws. Take a look at this. They actually carved down the right behind the cab portion of truck, separated it from the back portion and theyre going to haul it out in a couple of different pieces here. Weve got one lane of traffic getting by to the right here, were starting to see the vacuum increase this morning as we head into rush hour. We are starting to see some traffic tieups. Keep that in mind. Do vt tow trucks on the scene. It looks like theyre getting ready to take the front portion out at least and then theyre going have to deal with the back portion. We just got an update a little while ago. The hope here is theyre hoping to have it cleared out of the way or at least get more of the lanes open, even if theres a piece of the truck left to get more than one lane open by 7 00.
