Spring Ridge Middle School in Saint Marys County is closed today. In the day ahead, d. C. Police chief will speak with neighbors in the hill east neighborhood. Thats the area east of capitol hill. People living there have dealt with home invasion, rape, several street robberies and a murder in the last two weeks. Tonights meeting begins at 7 00 at friendship chamberlain Charter School in southeast. Not far from the hill east neighborhood, police say they arrested several people responsible for a series of robberies. Last week there were six robberies in an hour in the navy yard and capitol hill areas. Police say small groups of three to five people are committing multiple robberies a night. The chief says robberies are one of the Biggest Challenges the district is facing right now. She went on to say police made arrests in two major cases in the last four days. Right now, there are flood advisories across the gulf coast. Remnants of Hurricane Patricia are punishing the shoreline. Strong winds battered beaches in florida, a tornado touched down in new orleans. Crews rescued 20 children from their School Bus Stuck on a flooded bridge near baton rouge. In texas, three days of rain from two different systems are creating problems. Flash flooding derailed a train south of dallas and sent rescuers looking for the drivers of submerged cars. Rhone says the suspect got on the anacostia station and quickly started arguing with other passengers when she and a colleague confronted him, he admitted to having a gun. Thats when rhone called Transit Police and her coworker held the suspect down. I just did what i thought that i would have wanted somebody to do for me if i was in that situation. Police say the suspect is 20yearold rondez tibbs from southeast washington. They say he robbed a man at gunpoint before he got on that train at anacostia. Happening today, the trial against a mother, prosecutors say abandoned her baby girl begins. Sandra mcclary left her baby in the car seat on druid hill avenue in pasadena back in july. Police say mcclary tried to blame the babys father. Shes charged with child neglect and reckless endangerment. A driver accused of hitting a man three times with his car is now charged with attempted murder. Montgomery county police say 25yearold Bryan Jackson followed a man who he saw with his exgirlfriend on sunday. The man got out of his car to find out why he was being followed. Police say jackson rammed him, backed over him, and then hit him a third time. The victim is expected to be okay. It is now 4 36. Four Prince William county teenagers died over the weekend in three separate events. This morning were learning two of those teens died of stab wounds. The medical examiner says 17yearold indya davis took her own life. The teens were found dead inside a minivan after being reported missing by their families. They reviewed 59 agencies across the commonwealth and found that only 3 of them require officers to tell the public when theyre recording. The group says agencys rules should be uniform on how long a department can store data and the consequences for officers who break the rules. More than 150 Baltimore Police officers are wearing body cameras today. This is part of a trial that started on monday. The Deputy Police commissioner said the Department Officials hope the cameras boost public confidence, provide additional evidence, and reduce the number of citizen complaints. This program is part of our efforts, the Police Departments efforts, the citys efforts, to push transparency forward and progressive leading Law Enforcement agencies throughout the country. Police in williamsburg say a 15yearold or 16yearold boy took a teen girl into a park months ago and three others attacked her. All four of those suspects are under age. A 20yearold is accused of videotaping the whole thing. This happened back in june. Police say it took months to investigate. You would go from one suspect to another, find out some different facts and have to go back and confirm those things. The 20yearold is expected to turn himself in this week. Two of the teenagers were charged with rape. Police charged all five suspects with child pornography. If youre planning on getting on a plane soon, leave your ecigarettes at home. The department of transportation is banning battery operated smoking devices from checked baggage. Since 2009, there were 26 cases of ecigarettes exploding. Some of which happened in checked luggage.
